The promise of Jesus Christ in John 11:25 offers us hope beyond despair, comfort in knowing we are never alone, and the power to change our lives through faith in His resurrection.

Introduction

Good morning, Church. Today, we're going to dive into the deep end of faith, exploring the hope, comfort, and power found in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Our guide will be John 11:25,

"Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.’"

This verse, my friends, holds a profound promise for each of us. A promise of life beyond death, of hope that outlives despair, and of a love that is stronger than the grave. It reminds us that there is always room for hope in our lives, no matter how bleak or overwhelming our circumstances may seem.

As William Barclay once said, "For the Christian, heaven is where Jesus is. We do not need to speculate on what heaven will be like. It is enough to know that we will be forever with Him." This hope, the hope of resurrection, is what we find in the person and promise of Jesus Christ.

But this verse is not just about hope. It's also about comfort – the comfort of knowing that we are never alone, that Jesus is always with us, offering His presence, peace, and love. And it's about power – the power of Jesus' words to bring life, to bring hope, to bring comfort, and to change our lives forever.

The Hope of Resurrection

The hope of resurrection is a cornerstone of Christian faith, a beacon of light that illuminates our path through the darkest valleys of life. It is the promise that death is not the end, but rather a gateway to a new and eternal life with Christ. This hope is not just a vague, wishful thinking, but a firm assurance based on the person and work of Jesus Christ, who declared Himself to be "the resurrection and the life."

The resurrection of Jesus Christ: When Jesus rose from the dead, He conquered death, not just for Himself, but for all who believe in Him. His resurrection is the guarantee of our own. As the Apostle Paul puts it in 1 Corinthians 15:20, "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep." This means that Jesus' resurrection is the first of many. Just as a farmer who sees the first sprouts of his crops knows that the rest will soon follow, we can look at Jesus' resurrection and know that ours will follow.

Not just about life after death: It also impacts our lives here and now. It gives us the courage to face the trials and tribulations of this life, knowing that they are temporary and that a glorious future awaits us. It gives us the strength to endure, to persevere, and to keep going when everything in us wants to give up. It gives us the motivation to live our lives for Christ, knowing that our labor is not in vain, but will bear eternal fruit.

Brings purpose and meaning to our lives: It assures us that our lives are not a random series of events, but part of a grand, divine narrative that culminates in eternal life. It tells us that our lives matter, that every act of love, every deed of kindness, every word of encouragement, matters. It matters not just for the moment, but for eternity.

Transforms our perspective on death: In a world that fears death, the Hope of Resurrection enables us to face it with courage and peace. It assures us that death is not a dreaded enemy, but a defeated foe. It is not a dark abyss, but a doorway to eternal life. It is not a tragic end, but a glorious beginning.

A powerful and transformative reality: It changes how we live, how we die, and how we view our lives and deaths. It infuses our lives with courage, purpose, and meaning. It turns our mourning into dancing, our sorrow into joy, and our fear into faith.

The Comfort of Jesus' Presence

The comfort of Jesus' presence is the assurance that in every season of life, in every circumstance, and in every moment of joy or sorrow, we are never alone ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
