Grave Side Service

2016-08-10 Lakeview Cemetery

We have brought Norma to the place where her mortal body will remain until that great day when all the dead will be raised immortal.

Our comfort during these hard hours of loss come from the Great God of Heaven. I commend you to Him and the power of the Word of God.

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.” (Proverbs 18:10 ESV)

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalms 46:1 ESV)

God provides comfort for those who are hurting but He also reminds us to lean upon Him and not our own understanding.

“Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by.” (Psalms 57:1 ESV)

Christians know that God is faithful when all other things are fickle and fading.

“8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. 9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” (Psalms 118:8–9 ESV)

The Willoughby family gained their strength from leaning on the Lord through hard times and good times.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”” (John 16:33 ESV)

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Psalms 84:11 ESV)

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalms 27:1 ESV)

So we close with the words of our Savior:

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,” (John 11:25 ESV)

“And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3 ESV)

Comfort each other with these words as these are the very things that ____________________ lived by and taught to myriads of children and adults in her long and productive life for Jesus.

Closing prayer:

Precious Father, God of peace who brought Jesus back from the dead, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip us with every good thing that we may do his will, working within us that which is pleasing in Your sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
