Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
This sermon explores God's grace as an unearned, divine gift that draws sinners closer to Him and guides them towards redemption.
Welcome, dear friends and spiritual family. I am thrilled and humbled to share this sacred time with you today. We gather here, not as strangers meeting in passing, but as a family united in our love and devotion to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Today, we turn our hearts and minds to a topic that is pivotal in our Christian walk. We're going to consider the theme of grace. Grace, that divine gift from God, bestowed upon us not because of our worthiness, but because of His unending love.
As we embark on this spiritual reflection, I am reminded of this quote, "Grace is God drawing sinners closer and closer to Him. It is Him reaching downward to people who are in rebellion against Him." This quote, my friends, beautifully encapsulates the essence of God's grace. It is His hand, ever extended, ever inviting us into His loving embrace, regardless of our sins and shortcomings.
When we consider the magnitude of God's love, we find ourselves standing at the foot of a mountain, gazing up at its peak, shrouded in the clouds of divine mystery. This love, so profound, so boundless, is the wellspring from which grace flows. It is a love that saw our fallen state, our rebellion, our sin, and chose to respond not with wrath, but with grace.
This grace, this divine favor, is not a reward for our good deeds. It is not a prize for our piety. It is not a wage for our works. It is a gift. A gift given freely, without any expectation of repayment. A gift that is not contingent on our worthiness, but on God's generosity.
This grace is not a fleeting, ephemeral thing. It is not a momentary lapse in God's judgment. It is a constant, unchanging reality. It is as steady as the rising and setting of the sun. It is as sure as the ebb and flow of the tides. It is as certain as the changing of the seasons. This grace, this divine favor, is a constant thread woven through the tapestry of our lives.
This grace is not a passive, inert thing. It is not a static, lifeless concept. It is a dynamic, transformative force. It is a power that changes us, molds us, shapes us into the image of Christ. It is a power that takes our brokenness, our sin, our rebellion, and transforms it into beauty, righteousness, and obedience.
This grace is not a distant, abstract thing. It is not a far-off, unreachable ideal. It is a close, intimate reality. It is a presence that is as near to us as our own breath. It is a presence that is as real to us as our own heartbeat. It is a presence that is as tangible to us as our own skin. This grace, this divine favor, is a constant companion on our walk with Christ.
This grace is not a cold, impersonal thing. It is not a detached, indifferent concept. It is a warm, loving reality. It is a reality that is filled with the warmth of God's love, the tenderness of His mercy, the gentleness of His compassion. It is a reality that is filled with the joy of His presence, the peace of His promise, the hope of His salvation. This grace, this divine favor, is a constant reminder of God's love for us.
In the face of such grace, we are left with only one response. We must accept it. We must embrace it. We must live in it. We must let it transform us. We must let it guide us. We must let it shape us. We must let it mold us into the image of Christ. For it is by grace we have been saved, and it is by grace we will continue to live.
