GOVERNOR DOMINANCE

Matthew 2:1-18

Introduction:

On this last Sunday of 2020, we can all agree that this has been an unpleasant year; but there have also been some amazing things done by God. I truly believe that our State’s Governor has been preparing us for what the Federal Government is getting ready to do. There will be Federal lockdowns, Federal mandates, Federal abortion funding, Federal legalization of recreational marijuana, Federal take over of Churches, etc… It is going to be a time of attempted dominance over us by the Government. Do not forget that this has happened many times throughout history.

Matthew 2:1-6

In order to have dominance, the Governor needs to…

1. Know the competition.

As soon as King Herod heard that there was a baby born who was the King of the Jews; King Herod had to see what he was dealing with. King Herod was disturbed because he did not want to lose his position as King. He did his homework. He called in the top Jewish Religious Leaders in the area to give him information, and they did. They quoted from the Book of Micah that the Messiah would be born in Jerusalem. He needed that information so that he could find the child and kill him.

We have been going through all of this for over 9 months; and the only thing that I have seen accomplished is that politicians such as our Governor have been grabbing power. They do not care about students, business owners, and especially Christians. Have you noticed that the rules for Congregations meeting together stricken around Easter and Christmas? Our enemy has been using politicians to try to silence the birth of Jesus Christ for a long time.

As hard as the enemy tries, my Savior Jesus Christ will never be silenced. They killed Him on a cross and that didn’t stop Him. They put Him in a tomb and that didn’t stop Him. Before you get down about the World trying to shutdown Christians, do not forget that He and His people will prevail. The enemy knows his competition and knows that he will lose.

Matthew 2:7-12

In order to have dominance, the Governor needs to…

2. Have people’s loyalty.

While King Herod was the King and could dictate everything, he still wanted people to be loyal to him. He wanted them to be loyal to him by choice. He was in the habit of using people to get what he wanted. On false pretenses, he asked the Magi to go and find Jesus; and let him know of His location.

As all of this chaos continues, you are going to have to choose who you will follow. As I have said many times, “Yes, we are to follow the laws of the land; but that ends when those laws contradict Scripture”. We cannot allow the enemy to cause us to forget what matters most- Jesus. Do not give the enemy a foothold in your life; because when you do, it affects all of us.

Matthew 2:13-18

In order to have dominance, the Governor needs to…

3. Destroy any who are in the opposition.

An angel appeared to Joseph in a dream and told him to take Mary and Jesus and go to Egypt. King Herod was looking for Jesus to kill Him. People who want to be in control will do whatever necessary to get rid of those in opposition.

I will give 1 simple example of what we are dealing with concerning power. The Governor continues to say things such as, “If this shutdown saves just 1 life, then it is worth it”. There is a problem with this- Our Governor supports abortion at any time. In fact, she believes that taxpayers should pay for it. So, it is not about life; it is about control.

A power-hungry politician will go to any means to keep control- Including killing babies. Jeremiah’s prophecy came true; and so will the prophecy that Jesus is coming back. Until then, keep listening to the Savior.

Conclusion:

Regardless of who the enemy is using to dominate you, don’t let them. Your power, hope, joy, peace, and love come from Jesus. Keep trusting the Savior.
