Summary: Many Christians and churches today have become good for nothing as they have lost their influence. We should strive to be good for something.

Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
I. THE SHAMEFUL STATE OF BEING GOOD FOR NOTHING
A. No Longer Useful for What You Were Created
In the Way and Troublesome
Becomes Part of the Problem rather than the
Solution
B. Considered as Something that needs to be thrown away
II. THE PROCESS OF BECOMING GOOD FOR NOTHING
A. Allowing the World to Influence You rather You Influencing the World
B. Becoming Like the Environment You were called to Change
C. Refusing to make a Stand
When we bc like the world around us
then we become good for nothing.
When we refuse to stand up for righteousness
then we become good for nothing.
When we choose pocketbook over principles
then we become good for nothing.
When we bc focused on self rather than others
then we become good for nothing.
III. BECOMING GOOD FOR SOMETHING
A. Admit our Worthlessness
(1 Cor 11:31) For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged
B. Repent
C. Surrender
D. Do Something
E. Be Prepared for Persecution
(John 15:20 21) Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.
