The main point of this sermon is that God, as our loving shepherd, constantly watches over, protects, and guides us in every season of our lives, providing comfort and assurance in His unending care.

Introduction

Just as Lewis pointed out, our loving God has equipped us and is watching over our every step.

"God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain." —C.S. Lewis

God's Protection in Going and Coming

Our Heavenly Father is not only aware of our every move but also actively involved in ensuring our safety and well-being. As believers, we can take comfort in knowing that God's protection is not just limited to our physical safety but also extends to our emotional and spiritual well-being.

In the Old Testament, we see God's presence with His people in various ways, such as the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night that led the Israelites through the wilderness (Exodus 13:21-22). This constant presence of God with His people provided them with guidance and protection.

In the New Testament, Jesus promises His followers that He will be with them always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). As believers, we can take comfort in knowing that we are never alone, and God's presence is with us wherever we go.

In Ephesians 6:10-18, the apostle Paul describes the armor of God, which includes the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. These pieces of armor are not just physical protection but also spiritual tools that help us stand firm against the attacks of the enemy. As we put on the armor of God daily, we are better prepared to face the challenges and trials that come our way, knowing that God's protection is with us.

In Proverbs 3:5-6, we are encouraged to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding. As we acknowledge Him in all our ways, He promises to direct our paths. This guidance from God is not just limited to the big decisions in life but also extends to our everyday choices and actions. As we seek God's wisdom and direction, we can be confident that He will lead us on the right path and protect us from harm.

In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus teaches His followers not to worry about their lives, what they will eat or drink, or what they will wear. Instead, He encourages them to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to them. This promise from Jesus is a reminder that God knows our needs and is faithful to provide for us as we trust in Him. As we go through life, we can be confident that God's protection and provision will be with us every step of the way.

In Isaiah 49:25, the Lord declares that He will contend with those who contend with us and will save our children. This promise is a reminder that God's protection is not just for us individually but also for those we care about. As we entrust our families and loved ones to God's care, we can be confident that He will watch over them and keep them safe.

In John 16:33, Jesus tells His followers that in this world, they will have trouble, but they can take heart because He has overcome the world. This assurance from Jesus is a reminder that even when we face difficulties and challenges, we can be confident that God's protection is with us, and He will see us through.

Pastor, here would be a good place to share a personal story about God protecting you in a time of need.
