Text Rom. 8:25
Intro:What Principles should help us in the waiting room
Hear what God says..but don't see what he said
Abraham heard God's promise..BUT didn't see IT or at least right away..HE (Abraham) stepped into Gods Waiting Room
Abraham and Sarah waited for over 25 years from the time God promised them
Others in the waiting room:
Jacob served for 14 years for Rachel because of the love he had for her?
David waited almost 20 years to eventually taking his place on the throne?
Moses waited over 40 years from the time he escaped from Egypt to eventually coming back to rescue his people?
Too many want the Promise WITHOUT the Process
Principles that should help us WAIT
1) EXPECTATION
Expecting it to come about - (HOPE)
Habakkuk 2:2-3 MSG
Write what you see. Write it out in big block letters so that it can be read on the run. This vision-message is a witness pointing to what’s coming. It aches for the coming—it can hardly wait And it doesn’t lie. If it seems slow in coming, wait. It’s on its way. It will come right on time.”
2) EDUCATE
At times GOD is wanting to teach us..doesn't just take US right into a promise
"Waiting always - introduces a man/ woman to themselves"
3) ENDURE
Waiting patiently ... Has it's difficulties!
"God's delays ar. denials"
3 types of people that are Challenged to endure
A. Distracted~ Root word: to drag or pulled Visualize: type of torture: (medieval) four horses tie to each limb and pull
B. Distant
"not close to GOD as thought or should be"
When confronted with a crisis (how much God you GOT)
C. Doubt (s)
We've all doubted.. But when doubt YOU can..that's entirely different
4) ENGAGE THE ENEMY
waiting room becomes a WAR ROOM
Ephesians 6:10-18
As we wait- recap:
Expect
Educate
Endure
Engage
Conclusion:
Gen 8:1“But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark,
it doesn’t mean that God had forgotten him. It simply means that in the midst of the great flood, God stayed true to his promises.
