Psalm 82 God’s Charge

1. The Judge

His Position - 1 God standeth

His Place - in the congregation of the mighty;

His Purpose - he judgeth among the gods.

2. The Judged - He Judges the Judges

His Contention - at their Dithering

Their Decisions - 2 How long will ye judge unjustly,

Their Delays - 2 How long

Their Denials - and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.

His Contempt - at their Defence

Defend - Who? - 3 Defend the poor and fatherless:

Defend - How? - do justice to the afflicted and needy.

Defend - When? - Now - 2 How long will ye judge unjustly,

His Concern - at their Deliverance

Deliver - Who? - 4 Deliver the poor and needy:

Deliver - How? - rid them out of the hand of the wicked.

Deliver - When? - Now - 2 How long will ye judge unjustly,

His Call - For their Discernment

The People -The Judges - 5 They know not,

The Problem - 5 They know not, neither will they understand;

The Pride - they walk on in darkness:

The Price - all the foundations of the earth are out of course.

3. The Judgment -

Their Dignity - 6 I have said, Ye are gods;

Their Description - 6 and all of you are children of the most High.

Their Death - 7 But ye shall die like men,

Their Departure - 7 and fall like one of the princes.

4. The Justice -

It's Source - 8 Arise, O God,

It's Force - judge the earth:

It's Course - for thou shalt inherit all nations.
