Understand and utilize the power of God and the spiritual armor He provides us with to stand firm against the spiritual forces of evil.

Introduction

Good morning, church family! Today, we're diving headfirst into the deep waters of Ephesians 6, where we get a glimpse into the amazing power source of our Almighty God, the armor He provides, and the tremendous benefits we can enjoy when we plug into His power.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer once said, “As long as we let the Word of God be our only armor, we can look confidently into the future.” This understanding, my friends, starts with us recognizing that our battles aren't against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil.

The Source of God's Power

The source of God's power is an intriguing concept that we can explore from various angles. It's a topic that is deeply rooted in the scriptures and is fundamental to our understanding of God and our relationship with Him.

His nature: He is omnipotent, meaning He is all-powerful. This is not a characteristic that He acquired or developed over time. It is an integral part of His divine nature. God's power is not dependent on anything or anyone else. It is self-sustaining and eternal, just as He is. This is beautifully illustrated in the book of Revelation where God is described as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. His power has no beginning or end; it is infinite.

His sovereignty: He is the supreme ruler of the universe, and all authority has been given to Him. This is why the scriptures often refer to Him as the King of kings and the Lord of lords. His power is absolute and unmatched. There is no power that can challenge or rival His. This is why we can have confidence in His ability to fulfill His promises, protect us, and provide for us. His power is not limited by human constraints or understanding.

His wisdom: God's power is not arbitrary or reckless. It is guided by His perfect wisdom and understanding. He knows the end from the beginning and works all things according to His purpose. This is why we can trust Him even when we don't understand our circumstances. His power is working for our good and His glory.

His love: God is love, and His power is an expression of His love. He uses His power to save, heal, deliver, and restore. His power is not used to oppress or harm. It is used to bring about justice, righteousness, and peace. This is why we can approach Him with confidence and assurance. His power is always used for our good and His glory.

His Word: God's power is released through His Word. When He speaks, things happen. His Word is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It has the power to create, transform, and renew. This is why the scriptures encourage us to meditate on His Word day and night. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.
