Philippians 2:13 (Amplified Bible)

[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Author: Apostle Paul

C. Purpose: To express Paul's affection for the Philippian believers

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. GOD works in us to will

"[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will"

Works means "to be active", "to be efficient"

Will is our desire.

Our ability both to work, to will and to execute it to completion comes from GOD.

2 Corinthians 3:5 (Amplified Bible)

Not that we are fit (qualified and sufficient in ability) of ourselves to form personal judgments or to claim or count anything as coming from us, but our power and ability and sufficiency are from God.

Hebrews 13:21 (Amplified Bible)

Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; [while He Himself] works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages). Amen (so be it).

Ephesians 2:4-5 (Amplified Bible)

But God—so rich is He in His mercy! Because of and in order to satisfy the great and wonderful and intense love with which He loved us,

Even when we were dead (slain) by [our own] shortcomings and trespasses, He made us alive together in fellowship and in union with Christ; [He gave us the very life of Christ Himself, the same new life with which He quickened Him, for] it is by grace (His favor and mercy which you did not deserve) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation).

[For it is He] Who delivered and saved us and called us with a calling in itself holy and leading to holiness [to a life of consecration, a vocation of holiness]; [He did it] not because of anything of merit that we have done, but because of and to further His own purpose and grace (unmerited favor) which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began [eternal ages ago].

So if GOD uses us to work within us, we don't have to worry, He can accomplish His Work thru us because of His Own Power and Efficiency.

IX. CONCLUSION:

We only need to submit to GOD.

"For it is God who is at work within you, giving you the will and the power to achieve His purpose." (Philippians 2:13 – Phillips Translation)
