Summary: Sometimes the perplexities of life tend to discourage us and weigh us down. It seems though God has forgotten us. But He never forgets.

TOPIC: GOD WILL NOT FORGET YOU

TEXT : ISAIAH 49:15,16

"Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they might forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palm of my hands; thy walls are continually before me".

Life is full of challenges, perplexities, and difficulties. Sometimes these challenges tend to discourage us and weigh us down. At such times, it may seem as though God had forgotten us. This was the scenario in the passage before us "But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me"(Isaiah 49:14). It was in response to the mindset of the people that God gave them this gracious assurance that God can never forget His own.

"Can a woman forget her sucking child, ...yea they may forget, yet will I not forget thee"

The best of mothers can neglect or forget their nursing children, yet God will not forget you. God's compassion for His people far exceeds those of the most tender parents towards their children. The love of God surpasses that of the father or mother. The love of God for us is so strong that " when my father and my mother forsake me, the LORD will take me up" (Psalms 27:10)

Let's take a look at the case of Noah in the book of Genesis. Noah may have felt forgotten after being in the Ark for over a year. Even after the rain stopped the Lord did not come to him immediately. He probably may have confirmed his fear that God has forgotten him. But chapter 8 of the book of Genesis started with the happy news that "God remembered Noah" This season, God will remember you.

Rachael, the wife of Jacob, who was barren for many years and she did all she could but to no avail, God eventually stepped into her situation. And Bible says " And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb." (Genesis 30:22)

When God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, He remembered Abraham and spare Lot for his sake.

What shall I say more? The God that remembered Sarah, the children of Israel in Egypt, Jonah in the fish's belly, that same God will remember you.

Brethren, what is the issue in your life right now that makes you feel abandoned by God?.

Whatever burden we may harbour in our hearts let us cast it upon the Lord because He cares for us."Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" (1Peter5:7).

To substantiate the commitment of God of remembering us, He positioned us in the palms of His hand.

"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands..."

Your image is inscribed in the palms of God's hands. This means that God has your image with Him continually. He cannot lose sight of you. You are always before His eyes. You are well secured in the palms of God's hand.

The Lord Jesus reaffirmed this truth when He said "My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man can pluck them out of my Father's hand" (John 10:29)

My beloved brothers and sisters, regardless of what you are going through, don't feel abandoned or discouraged. God is working things out behind the scene and He will show up in His own time.

Wait patiently and obediently for His time as you continue instant in prayers.

Let's conclude with this chorus

I...will not forget thee or leave thee,

In My hands, I'll hold thee,

In My arms, I'll fold thee,

I...will not forget or leave thee,

I am thy Redeemer, I will care for thee.

God bless you.
