Summary: Jesus never promised that we wouldn't fight a battle, He just promised that we would not be alone. God will make a way through the wilderness, through the storm, and for you!

Deuteronomy 26:1-11

Introduction

• God knows His sheep by name.

• Share a personal life story of God's provision.

• God will not abandon you.

• God has no orphans…

I. God Will Make a Way in the Desert

A. God used Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt into the promised land.

1. They murmured, complained, tried to replace him, and eventually died in the wilderness.

B. During the whole journey God still took care of them.

1. Don’t mistake God’s provision for His endorsement.

C. The battle was in the children of Israel themselves. It happened in the wilderness.

1. Israel was their own worst enemy.

2. Some scholars say they could have made it to the promised land in as little as ten days. Instead it took them forty years.

a. Some never got victory over their flesh and had to die in the wilderness so the rest could be free to inherit the promise.

II. God Will Make a Way Through the Storms of Life – Mark 4:35-41

A. Let us pass over unto the other side.

B. The other little ships.

1. Every word you speak, every decision you make, has a ripple effect.

C. Peace Be Still.

1. One word from God can change your life forever.

III. God Will Make a Way for You

A. David and Goliath – 1 Samuel 17:45-47

1. Saul’s celebration of David was short lived…

2. From the time that David was anointed king until the time he ascended the throne, Saul was trying to kill him.

3. He was anointed but didn’t have the authority to reign, so he had to wait, grow up, and learn.

Luke 6:26-28

26. Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

27. But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

28. Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

B. God is on our side!

1. Context = Rich Young Ruler ~ “But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

2. Context = Man whose son had an unclean spirit and the disciples couldn’t cast it out. ~ “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23)

C. God will fight for you!

1. “The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.” (Exodus 15:3)

2. Context = God reassuring Joshua that He would fight for Israel against the Og, king of Bashan (of the remnant of the giants in Canaan) ~ “Ye shall not fear them: for the LORD your God he shall fight for you.” (Deuteronomy 3:22)

3. “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Closing: Read Romans 8:31-39

This is possible because of the Blood of Jesus.

• 2000 years ago, on a hill called Calvary, our Saviour, bled and died for you and me…

• The blood will never lose its power

• It reaches to the highest mountain…

Call people forward to give their battles to the Lord.
