God So Loved The World
Contributed by Matthew Davaughn Cox on Sep 9, 2012 (message contributor)
Summary: This sermon overviews John 3:16
We gather on this day to discuss the famous scripture in the bible found in the book of John. In the third chapter and begining at the sixteenth verse. It is there that we find these words: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him would not perish but have enternal life.
Now the question we have to ask ourselves to fully understand this scripture is why did God give his Son? You see God gave us his Son to pay for the sins that we as humans have and will commit. Back in the book of Genesis chapter one Adam and Eve sinned against God by eatting from the tree in the middle of the garden. Once these two persons committed this sin it made it impossible for humankind to make it into heaven, because sin is not allowed into heaven. So God sent his one and only Son to die for our sins so that we could make it into heaven when we die.
Jesus walked among this land, just like you and I do today. Everything that me and you have been through Jesus has already been through it. Everything that we will go through he on earth Jesus has already been through it. Jesus went to the cross and died for our sins, and because Jesus did this our sins our forgiven. Jesus could have came off of the cross but he did not, because he knew the purpose for which God had him on the earth to complete. That very task was to die for humankinds deadful sins.
When we believe this then we shall be saved and shall have eternal life in heaven! Believe that God Sent his One and Only Son to die for our sins. That Jesus walked among this land, died on the cross and ascended back into heaven.
