Titus 3:8 (Amplified Bible)

3:8 This message is most trustworthy, and concerning these things I want you to insist steadfastly, so that those who have believed in (trusted in, relied on) God may be careful to apply themselves to honorable occupations and to doing good, for such things are [not only] excellent and right [in themselves], but [they are] good and profitable for the people.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Kindness and Love of GOD appeared

"3:4 But when the goodness and loving-kindness of God our Savior to man [as man] appeared,"

Psalms 17:7 (Amplified Bible)

17:7 Show Your marvelous loving-kindness, O You Who save by Your right hand those who trust and take refuge in You from those who rise up against them.

Psalms 26:3 (Amplified Bible)

26:3 For Your loving-kindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your truth [faithfully].

Psalms 63:3 (Amplified Bible)

63:3 Because Your loving-kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.

We have been given eternal life: that is our relationship with the FATHER and the SON even while still here on this earth and yet with all the beauty of it, we choose the loving-kindness of GOD.

John 17:3 (Amplified Bible)

17:3 And this is eternal life: [it means] to know (to perceive, recognize, become acquainted with, and understand) You, the only true and real God, and [likewise] to know Him, Jesus [as the] Christ (the Anointed One, the Messiah), Whom You have sent.

Isaiah 63:7 (Amplified Bible)

63:7 I will recount the loving-kindnesses of the Lord and the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has bestowed on us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel, which He has granted them according to His mercy and according to the multitude of His loving-kindnesses.

B. GOD saved us

"3:5 He saved us,"

Psalms 37:39 (Amplified Bible)

37:39 But the salvation of the [consistently] righteous is of the Lord; He is their Refuge and secure Stronghold in the time of trouble.

Isaiah 12:2 (Amplified Bible)

12:2 Behold, God, my salvation! I will trust and not be afraid, for the Lord God is my strength and song; yes, He has become my salvation.

Isaiah 25:9 (Amplified Bible)

25:9 It shall be said in that day, Behold our God upon Whom we have waited and hoped, that He might save us! This is the Lord, we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.

GOD is our Salvation, don't save ourselves, GOD will be the one to save us in His Goodness. He is our Refuge and Secure Stronghold in times of trouble. The saving He does to us is continues and we just come to Him for saving anytime.

1. Not because of our good works

"not because of any works of righteousness that we had done,"

Ephesians 2:8-9 (Amplified Bible)

2:8 For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God;

2:9 Not because of works [not the fulfillment of the Law’s demands], lest any man should boast. [It is not the result of what anyone can possibly do, so no one can pride himself in it or take glory to himself.]

2. Because of His mercy

"but because of His own pity and mercy,"

Micah 7:18 (Amplified Bible)

7:18 Who is a God like You, Who forgives iniquity and passes over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He retains not His anger forever, because He delights in mercy and loving-kindness.
