Introduction

Good morning, church family. Today, we're going to delve into a topic that has sparked conversations, debates, and even division within the body of Christ and our greater society. It is one that cannot be avoided or ignored, and yet one that we must approach with love, humility, and grace. The topic is homosexuality, and we'll be looking at God's Word on the matter and our call to live in obedience to His Word.

Our key scripture passages are Romans 1:26-27, Leviticus 18:22, and Leviticus 20:13. In Romans, Paul writes, "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error." In Leviticus 18:22, God's command to the Israelites is clear: "Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable." And in Leviticus 20:13, the consequences for disobeying this command are laid out: "If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
