Introduction

o In order to live a life of success, a life of completeness, a life with a purpose and assignment for God, we must first know His voice.

o The voice of God – do you know it?

o You must hear the Word of God directly from God.

o God is always speaking, but we are to busy with our own life to hear Him.

o If you want to receive revelation knowledge (the secret things of God revealed to you by the Holy Spirit), you must get into position to hear His voice.

o Prayer, meditation on the Word of God and praying in tongues will position you to hear directly from Him.

o Let us seek the scriptures this morning to uncover how we hear the voice of God.

1. The voice of God helps remove the mountains (obstacles or hindrances) in your life

(NKJV) Psalm 29 1 Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones, Give unto the LORD glory and strength. 2 Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness. 3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; The God of glory thunders; The LORD is over many waters. 4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is full of majesty. 5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars, Yes, the LORD splinters the cedars of Lebanon.

A. When you hear and obey the voice of God, there are no obstacles that can stand in your way.

B. The Bible is God’s Spoken Word that came from His own voice.

a. To understand God’s spoken Word and His voice, you must first know God’s written Word.

b. Jesus only heard His father by listening to the spoken Word then obeying it.

c. What God speaks to you via the Holy Spirit will always line up with what is written.

C. Reading the Bible is the starting point to begin to hear from God.

a. The Bible is the seed.

b. Mediation on the Word is the water.

c. Prayer in tongues is the fertilizer that manifests the ability to hear the voice of God.

d. Breakthrough comes when you hear the voice behind the Word (a Rhema Word).

2. Faith comes by hearing

(NKJV) Romans 10 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

A. Hearing takes both ears, so listen to what God’s Word is speaking to you.

B. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For we walk by faith, not by sight.

C. Faith comes two ways: through the reading of the written Word and hearing a Rhema Word.

D. Paul saw the light and heard the voice of God on the road to Damascus.

(NKJV) Acts 22 6 “Now it happened, as I journeyed and came near Damascus at about noon, suddenly a great light from heaven shone around me. 7 And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, ‘Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?’ 8 So I answered, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And He said to me, ‘I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom you are persecuting.’ 9 “And those who were with me indeed saw the light and were afraid, but they did not hear the voice of Him who spoke to me.

a. Those traveling with Him only saw the light.

b. You can read the written Word, but can you hear the voice behind the Word?

c. We must increase our hearing spiritually. God wants to do great things through you, but you must know, hear and act on what He speaks to you.

3. You must hear the Word of God from God in order to achieve God’s greatness.

A. Intimacy with God, time spent in the secret place allows you to better recognize His voice.

B. Hearing Gods voice will bring revelation or confirmation about what is in His Word and when applied it will transform your life.

a. When you hear the voice of God and obey, miracles can take place in your life.

(NKJV) John 2 1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” 5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” 6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
