Summary: The Lord loves His people so much that He can’t keep Himself from thinking about us. We are always on His mind.

By: Donna J. Kazenske

Psalm 40:5 – Many, O Lord my God, are Your wonderful works which You have done; and Your thoughts toward us cannot be recounted to You in order; if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

When I meditate on Psalm 40:5, I find myself so amazed at how frequently the Lord thinks about His people. The Psalmist declares to us that God’s thoughts toward us are innumerable, too many to be counted or numbered.

The Lord loves His people so much that He can’t keep Himself from thinking about us. We are always on His mind.

Psalm 139:17 – “How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; when I awake, I am still with You.”

Psalm 40:17 – But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinks upon me.

Isaiah 49:16 – See, I have inscribed you on the palms of My hands; your walls are continually before Me.

God knows and understands every aspect of our daily lives and walk with Him. He knows the trials, the heartache, the confusion, the sickness and all the pain that many of us are currently facing. He ever intercedes on our behalf before the Father in heaven. He continually intervenes so that all things work together for our good.

The Scriptures declare that God’s ways are not our ways; His ways are higher than ours. He holds the future in His hands. His will is perfect and good for all involved.

Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

God’s thoughts toward us are thoughts of peace and not of evil. He doesn’t sit in heaven thinking of ways to take us out because of all the things we’ve done wrong in our lifetime. His thoughts toward us are thoughts of peace. His thoughts are toward our future involvement in His kingdom. When He thinks of our future, He is filled with peace.

If God’s thoughts for us are filled with peace, shouldn’t we also be able to experience that same peace in our minds when we think about Him? He is the Prince of Peace.

I believe it’s time for the body of Christ to learn how to stay in “peace”. We have allowed the enemy to rob us of the peace that we have so desperately needed because we have not fully understood God’s thoughts, God’s ways and God’s direction. God’s desire is for His people to walk in peace that passes all understanding.

When we are connected to Him, we will be able to see those things that we have never been able to see apart from Him. When we are connected to Him, we will be able to experience His peace and His magnificent glory in our lives.

No matter what happens to us in this life, the word of God tells us that God is for us, not against us. He has a plan and a destiny for His people and He will see to it that all is fulfilled according to His plan and purpose.

Isaiah 26:3 – You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

1 Corinthians 7:15b - ….but God has called us to peace.
