As followers of Christ, we find hope in the promise of His return and the renewal of all things. But what about our present circumstances? The Bible provides numerous instances of God's restorative power, demonstrating His glory and our benefit.
As believers, our hope rests in the promise that Christ will come back for us and make all things new. But what about the present? The Bible shows us how God restores and makes things new for His glory and our good.
1. 2 Kings 8:1-6 - The Woman's Land Restored:
Elisha tells a woman to leave her home due to a coming famine. After seven years, she returns to find her land taken. The king, hearing of Elisha's miracles, restores her land and all its produce.
2. 2 Kings 6:1-7 - Recovering the Lost Axe Head:
The company of prophets needed a larger meeting place, so they went to gather wood. One of them lost the borrowed axe head in the water. Elisha miraculously made the axe head float, and it was recovered.
3. Joel 2:25 - Restoring the Years Devoured by Locusts:
God promises to restore the years that locusts have eaten, bringing abundance and satisfaction to His people.
4. Psalm 126 - Restoring the Fortunes of Zion:
When God restored the fortunes of Zion, it was like a dream come true. The nations recognized God's great works, and His people were filled with joy.
1. God Restores:
God can restore our relationship with Him through forgiveness and justification. He can also restore earthly relationships and even redeem lost time and years.
2. God Renames:
In Scripture, we see God giving new names to signify renewed purpose and a redeemed life. Our new identity in Christ gives us hope and a fresh start each day.
3. He Resurrects:
God has power over death and can bring new life to our souls. We can trust in His power to resurrect us from sin and shame, experiencing His grace and mercy daily.
1. Health: God promises to restore health and heal our wounds (Jeremiah 30:17).
2. Life: He can restore and nourish us, even in old age (Ruth 4:15).
3. Joy: God can restore the joy of our salvation (Psalm 51:12).
4. Wasted Years: He can restore the time lost to sin and bring redemption (Joel 2:25).
5. Spiritual Walk: God calls us to restore one another in a spirit of gentleness (Galatians 6:1).
6. Paths: He can rebuild and fill the broken places in our lives (Isaiah 58:12).
7. Damaged Soul: God can restore and lead us in paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3).
1. Recovery Involves Concession:
Recognize the need for change and expansion, humbly seeking God's guidance (Isaiah 54:2).
2. Recovery Involves Concord:
Work together in unity, agreeing on the need for growth and progress (Acts 2:1).
3. Recovery Involves Concern:
Be aware of the loss and its impact on the work at hand, seeking God's power and guidance (Matthew 9:36).
4. Recovery Involves Confession:
Admit any fault or responsibility for the loss, humbly seeking forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
5. Recovery Involves Comprehension:
Understand the value and significance of what was lost, realizing its importance (Matthew 16:26).
6. Recovery Involves Coming Back:
Return to the place where the loss occurred, examining the reasons and making necessary corrections (Revelation 2:5).
7. Recovery Involves Confrontation:
Trust in God's power and supernatural intervention, allowing Him to work miracles (Mark 9:23).
8. Recovery Involves Commitment:
Wholeheartedly embrace and receive what God has done, actively participating in the restoration process (Romans 12:1-2).
9. Recovery Involves Connection:
Connect with God's power and miracles by faith, trusting in His ability to restore what was lost (Mark 11:24).
God is a restorer and redeemer. He can bring restoration to every area of our lives, whether it be health, relationships, joy, or lost time. By following these steps of recovery and restoration, we can experience the power and grace of God in our lives. Trust in His ability to make all things new and embrace the journey of restoration with faith and commitment.
