GOD’S PROMISES TO SUPPLY US
“But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Phil. 4:19
A preacher died and found himself waiting in line at the Pearly Gate in heaven. Ahead of him was a guy dressed in sunglasses, a loud shirt, leather jacket and jeans. Saint Peter addresses him, "Who are you, so that I may know whether or not to admit you into Heaven?"
The guy replies, "I’m Manie Munoz, tricycle driver, from Quezon City." Peter consults his list. He smiles and says to the driver, "Your house is found in Judah Avenue, House number 77 made of gold. Come in."
Now it’s the minister’s turn. When Peter asked his name, he replied, "I am Robert Magdaluyo and I’ve been preacher somewhere in Metro Manila for the last 10 years." Saint Peter consults his list. Finds his name and he says to the preacher, "Go to Simeon Avenue, house number 66 and claim your wooden house. Come in."
"Just a minute," says the preacher. "That man was a tricycle driver and gets a gold house. And what I get is only wooden house. What’s going on here?"
“Well,” says Saint Peter "Up here, we work by results. When you preached people slept; when that guy drove… PEOPLE PRAYED."
Now, let’s talk about God’s supply.
Can God provide? In our text today, we can know that God surely provides for us.
Abraham said Genesis 22:8 : God will provide… [Jehovah Jireh]
Asaph said in Ps. 78:19-20: Then they spoke against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? Can he provide flesh for his people?
NOW, LETS STUDY THE 3 PROMISES OF GOD IN OUR TEXT TODAY.
1. GOD HAS PROMISED TO SUPPLY US (19a)
“My God shall supply”
Look at the verse again. It says “My God” shall supply.
It never said that:
---my employer shall supply
---my sponsor
---my business
---my wife
---my friends abroad
---my fiancée
The verse says that His God shall alone supply his needs.
We’re talking about the source of richest in life, source that will never fail!
Rom. 2:4 “the riches of His goodness”
Eph. 1:7 “the riches of His grace”
Phil. 4:19 Now “his riches in glory”
And the source of all these riches is “My God”.
You see, the problem for many people today, they look for a stable source of supply in this world rather than God.
"Dont put your hope in wealth, which is uncertain, but put your hope in God..." (1 Tim. 6:17)
Jesus said, “I have come to give you abundant life.” (John 10:10) [Overflowing, bountiful]
2. GOD HAS PROMISED TO SUPPLY OUR NEEDS (19b)
“All your needs”-not “all your wants or greeds”
Paul Crouch, president of TBN, said once that when he started the network he had one home he was about to lose, and he was willing to just give it to God, but now he has 12 beautiful homes around the world, filled w/ gold and fine furnishings
God hasn’t promised to meet our greeds…but our needs!
A Genie is different from God. A Genie will give you 3 things you want from him. But God will only give you something that you only need. He loves to meet our needs…but He doesn’t limit it to 3…but “all” our needs!
Here’s good news, if you have financial needs and “if you remain faithful to God, God will be faithful to you!”
The Lord had said, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.” (John 15:7)
Not just financial needs…you emotional needs, peace in life, love life, success!
Happiness. “Happiness that God gives is not based on material possession.”
Also your spiritual needs—Lam. 3: 22-24 “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.”
Protection: Isaiah 42:2 “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
3. GOD HAS PROMISED TO SUPPLY US HIS RICHES (v.19c)
“according to His riches in glory”…not “part of”, but “according to”
If you helped an unknown rich man from the snares of death and thankfully give you a portion of his inheritance. Let say 10 million pesos or 100 acres of land in the city. That’s not giving according to his riches, but simply out of his riches.
