GOD'S PLAN FOR YOUR INCREASE

God has a plan for your increase. And you have to believe that it is the will of God for you to increase in life. It is not a curse or a shame to start small in life. In fact, most of us will start small in life but God’s will is for us to increase as life progresses. You don’t have to settle for a small life. God did not invest so much in you and your redemption only to be expecting a feeble outcome. God wants you to live your life to the full! Smallness is not God’s plan for you.

Job 8:7 says “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase”.

And in Psalms 115:12-15, the word of God says “The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great. The LORD shall increase you more and more, you and your children. Ye are blessed of the LORD which made heaven and earth”. God is mindful of us and our children and He has a plan to increase us in all areas of life. The blessing of God is what sets us on the path of Increase. The blessing of God empowers us to succeed in all areas of life.

CONSIDER ABRAHAM:

In Isaiah 51:2, God says: ““Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him”. God admonished us to draw inspiration from Abraham because Abraham is a perfect example and proof of how God’s grace can turn a Nobody into Greatness through a Covenant Relationship with God.

Abraham’s Increase was not accidental. It came through a process. The above passage of the Bible reveals three critical phases in Abraham’s journey to greatness: the “Call”, the “Blessing” and the “Increase”. The Call led to the Blessing and the Blessing produced the Increase.

A COVENANT WALK

God said to Abraham “…I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect. And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly - Gen 17:1-2”.

God was searching for a man that will partner with Him to establish God’s purpose on earth. And Abraham was that man. But for God to partner with Abraham God had to first establish a basis for mutual trust and so He cut a covenant with Abraham. Covenant relationship is the strongest and most trusted relationship because covenant demands for sacrifice and a lifelong commitment from the parties involved (Ref: Ps 89: 34). When two parties enter into a covenant, they are saying to each other “I am now yours and All I have is yours”, “I will put your interest first and I will hold nothing back from you”, “Your enemy becomes my enemy and I will fight anyone who fights you”.

After cutting the covenant with Abraham, to be sure that Abraham understood the implications of the covenant and that he will be faithful to the covenant God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son Isaac whom Abraham loved so much. As costly as it was, Abraham did not hesitate to obey God because he had a covenant relationship with God and the covenant forbids him from withholding anything from God that God might request. When God saw Abraham’s faithfulness, He said to Abraham “By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice - Gen 22:16-18”

This was the turning point in Abraham’s life – “The Place of Obedience and Sacrifice”! This was Abraham’s journey to greatness!

God is always searching for someone who feels His heartbeat and is willing to midwife God’s purpose on earth. God has an agenda on earth and is looking for someone who will partner with Him to establish His agenda on earth. When God finds such a person He will bless that person and increase him or her greatly. Your background is not the issue because when God blesses you His blessing overrides your background and empowers you to succeed in life. Your Qualification is not the issue because when the Grace of God comes on you, Grace overwrites your qualification. God is looking for a covenant heart! God wants you to come into a covenant relationship with Him - A Covenant of Service and Sacrifice! Some may say we already have a covenant relationship with God through the Blood of Jesus. Is that not enough? Yes, it is enough for our redemption! Because of the blood of Jesus, our sins are washed away, we are reconciled to God, and we have eternal life when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. But all this is possible not because of your sacrifice but because of the sacrifice of Jesus. The question is, if you are a child God, can God depend on you? What sacrifice have you made or are you making to advance the church and the Kingdom of God on earth? If you claim to be in a covenant relationship with God, would you obey God like Abraham and release your best to God at God’s request? God is willing to give you His best and He is willing to increase you greatly but first, He wants you to walk in the Covenant and meet Him at the place of Obedience and Sacrifice!
