Summary: This sermon informs us about our great God as One who plans His every move.
God’s Plan
If we would follow the bible carefully we would come to the conclusion that our God is a great planer. One of God’s plans began with a man by the name of Abraham. God tells him;” As for Me, behold My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations. Neither shall your name anymore be called Abram {exalted father}, but your name shall be Abraham {father of a multitude} for a father of many nations have I made you. And I will make you exceeding fruitful and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come out of you”Gen.17:4-6. God gives Abraham this plan to make him a father of many nations in a time when he hade no children. God always starts with nothing and makes something great.
God never plan small. His plan always includes and blesses other people. God goes on to tell Abraham that Sarah your wife shall bear you a son indeed; and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for a everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. Isaac was a special child, a promise child born miraculously. God tells Abraham that He would return to them according to the time of life and Sarah shall have a son. Gen. 18:14 The bible declares” by faith Sarah received strength to conceive seed when she was past the age of child bearing. Heb. 11:11 Who gave her the strength? The Lord did return to her according to the time of life and gave her strength. Listen. He that was born after the flesh {Ishmael} persecuted him that was born after {with the help of} the Holy Spirit.{Isaac} Gal. 4:29 God’s plan continued with Isaac.
And Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife because she was barren; and the Lord heard his prayer and Rebekah his wife conceived. And the Lord said unto her two nations are in your womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from your body, and one people shall be stronger that the other, and the elder {Esau} shall serve the younger {Jacob}.Gen. 25:21-23 Here we see that Jacob was chosen by God from his mother’s womb, destine for the plan of God. Jacob had a dream; a ladder reached from earth to heaven. And the Lord stood above it and said, I am the God of your fathers, the land where you lay I will give it to you and to your seed after you, your seed shall be as the dust of the earth, in you all of the families of the earth shall be blessed. Many years later God speaks to Jacob and reveals part of the plan, and God Said;” I am the God of your father, fear not to go down into Egypt, for I will go down with you and will surly bring you up { your descendents} again; and Joseph shall close your eyes {in death}.Gen. 46:3,4
Have you ever wondered how the children if Israel got down into Egypt. The word of God tells us that: God sent a man before them {the children of Israel}, even Joseph, who they sold for a servant, whose feet they hurt with fetters and iron. Jacob also came into Egypt and sojourned in the land of ham. There God increased His people greatly and made them stronger than their enemies. God turned their hearts {the Egyptians} to hate His people, to deal deceitfully with His servants. Psalms 105:17-25 All of this is the plan of God. God sent His people to Egypt to make them a great nation, then He turns the Egyptians against them to get them to leave Egypt.
But when the time of the promise grew near which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt. In which time Moses was born. And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in words and in deeds. This Moses whom they refused, the same did God send to be a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush. God added Joseph and Moses to the plan. The word of God declares;” now to Abraham and his seed were the promise made. God did not say, and to your seeds as of many, but He said, and to your seed, which is Christ. Gal. 3:16 When God promised Abraham that through his seed all of the families of the earth would be blessed, the seed that God was referring to was Jesus Christ. We read; For you are all children of God by faith in Jesus Christ. And if you be Christ’s then are you Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise. Gal. 3:26..29 Scripture tells me that God included Jesus into the plan that the plan might reach you and me. Now we see Jesus in the plan and you and I are in the plans of God to receive blessings that started four thousands yours ago with one man by the name of Abraham. I praise God for my part in His Plan. Bernard A. Jones brobern737@bellsouth.net
