God's Name Is Reverend

TEXT- PS 111:9 HE SENT REDEMPTION UNTO HIS PEOPLE: HE HATH COMMANDED HIS

COVENANT FOR EVER: HOLY AND REVEREND IS HIS NAME.

THE BIBLE DOES NOT IMPLY IN ANYWAY THAT MINISTERS ARE FORBIDDEN TO USE THE

WORD REVEREND IN REFERENCE TO THE OFFICE THAT THEY HOLD.

THE SAME WORD IS USED IN RESPECT FOR OUR PARENTS AS WELL AS GOD.

Eph 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise; 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

REVERENCE- A FEELING OR ATTITUDE OF DEEP RESPECT, LOVE, AND AWE, AS FOR SOMETHING SACRED.

WE MUST HAVE REVERENCE NOT ONLY FOR GOD, AND OUR PARENTS, BUT ALSO THE

SANCTUARY

Lev 19:30 Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.

1. HOLY IS HIS NAME - INSPIRING AWE, REVERENCE, AND GODLY FEAR.

A. Ps 111:10 THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM: A GOOD UNDERSTANDING HAVE ALL THEY THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS: HIS PRAISE ENDURETH FOR EVER.

C. GOD’S NAME IS REVEREND (PS.111:9)

D. Ps 89:7-11

GOD IS GREATLY TO BE FEARED IN THE ASSEMBLY OF THE SAINTS, AND TO BE HAD IN

REVERENCE OF ALL THEM THAT ARE ABOUT HIM. 8.O LORD GOD OF HOSTS, WHO IS A

STRONG LORD LIKE UNTO THEE? OR TO THY FAITHFULNESS ROUND ABOUT THEE?

9 THOU RULEST THE RAGING OF THE SEA: WHEN THE WAVES THEREOF ARISE, THOU

E. WE MUST REVERENCE HIS HOLY PLACE.

IDIOT.’ SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN AFRAID TO REPROVE THOSE WHO MISBEHAVE

THEMSELVES IN CHURCH, LEST I SHOULD REPEAT THE MISTAKE AND REPROVE ANOTHER IDIOT." DURING THE REST OF THE SERVICE THERE WAS GOOD ORDER.

2. HOW ARE WE TO REVERENCE GOD?

A. Matt 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

B. AND PHILP SAID, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART THOU MAYEST. AND HE

ANSWERED AND SAID, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD. ACTS 8:37

C. WE MUST SHOW PEOPLE AND EVEN REMIND THEM THAT GOD’S NAME IS HOLY AND

REVEREND.

Matt 21:37 BUT LAST OF ALL HE SENT UNTO THEM HIS SON, SAYING, THEY WILL REVERENCE MY SON.

3. HEALING CAN COME WHEN WE REVERENCE HIM

A. Mark 7:25-30 For a certain woman, whose young daughter had an unclean spirit, heard of him, and came and fell at his feet: 26 The woman was a Greek, a Syrophenician by nation; and she besought him that he would cast forth the devil out of her daughter. 27 But Jesus said unto her, Let the children first

be filled: for it is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it unto the dogs. 28 And she answered and said unto him, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children's crumbs. 29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. 30 And when she

was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed.

B. SHE CAME AND FELL AT JESUS FEET …….. (REVERENCED HIM).

C. SHE SAID, YES LORD! YES TO THE LORD IS THE SECRET OF SALVATION, HEALING,

AND HAPPINESS.

D. YES, LORD: YET THE DOGS UNDER THE TABLE EAT THE CHILDREN’S CRUMBS. Vs.28

E. VS. 29. FOR THIS SAYING GO THY WAY, THE DEVIL IS GONE OUT OF YOUR DAUGHTER.
