Genesis 1:27

We are the image of God, how we have distorted His image.

The world put’s so much importance on the outside, the way people look.

I myself have done this, about 7 or 8 years ago. I was working at Olney Door and Screen. There was a guy who I had seen in town, (We lived in a small town in Texas) he had a mohawk and ear rings, he looked different than everyone else in town. Well one day at work, I looked up and here he came walking down the aisle with the manger. I started praying, "Please Lord, don’t let the boss put him beside me!" Well, guess what the Lord did? That’s right, not only did the boss put him beside me but I had to train him. It wasn’t long before we were talking and laughing, he knew my wife, she was in the same grade as him when they were in school. When I got home and told my wife how I was working with, she said i want to show you something. She pulled out her annual, there was his picture, then she showed me another picture(I couldn’t believe it), he was voted most handsome in their class. The next day, I was kidding him about his picture. I said,"You sure have changed." He said, "Yea, you want to know why?" Yes, I said. He said, "I got tired of girls only going out with me because of my looks, I want people to like me for who I am." Well, I had alot of repenting to do. I thank God for sending Jim Bob into my life to teach me a very valuable lesson about judging others.

There is so many people who won’t accept people if they look different, whether it’s the clothes they wear or ear rings they wear many places beside their ears and of course hair styles.

We are kind like the man who wanted a perfect wife but he wasn’t perfect!

The world won’t accept people who are different skin color and if that’s not bad enough the same thing goes on within the church. We don’t except people from different denominations because they don’t act like we do(There is more we agree on, than disagree).

What the world and and some Christians have forgotten are that we are made in the image of God.

We are His creation but do we all look at one anther as being His creation, do we treat each other as such.

When you have kids, one of the reasons is to create or have a part of your spouse and you.

When we look at other babies, they may all look the same. (a man’s perspective)

But, when we look at ours, we see our nose, the mothers smile, the temper on your side of the family, they sleep like your spouse.

We can see us in them.

When I was a kid, when I would look in the mirror, I hated the way I looked, I wanted to look like my dad, who was a handsome man(That’s what all the woman said!). It wasn’t till I was grown that I saw a picture of him when he was about 11 or 12 and he looked just like me. If I would have seen that when I was a kid, I would have felt better about myself. Maybe we should see ourselves the way God sees us!

We have to remember that just like parents no matter how much love you give a child or how many things we give them , no matter if we do all the right things. Kids have a choice, how they will turn out and so do we, even if we are made in the image of God.

We have distorted the image so much, we can do so much hurt to one another.

The mother who drove her children into the lake and let them drown.

The bad thing is, when we Christians who know God created all living things, treat people as second rate, or we gossip, backbite, slander, when we would rather put down than help up.

James 3:9-With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God’s likeness.

When dealing with people you can’t tell the differance between Christian and non-christians or maybe you can the non-christiands treat you better.

But sometimes we can see the image of God in people and in ourselves.

Like the time the whole nation prayed for little Jessica who fell in the well in Texas, people wouldn’t leave till that little girl was safe.

Total strangers who come up to talk to the baby in your arms.

The town who came together overcoming racial barriers to look for some missing children.
