Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Through our relationship with Jesus Christ and walking in the power of the Holy Spirit, we are free from guilt and condemnation, and can live in the freedom and power that God has intended for us.
Good morning, church family! Today, we're diving into a message of hope and love. It's a message of the incredible power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives, and a message about the freedom we have in Christ – the freedom from condemnation.
In the words of George G. Bloomer, "The Gospel is not a message of condemnation as some abusive leaders would have us think but rather a message of freedom and empowerment." Let that truth sink in for a moment. You are free, my friends – free from guilt, free from condemnation, and free to live in the power of the Holy Spirit!
Our key Scripture today is Romans 8:1, which says,
"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit" (NKJV).
This verse is filled with so much hope and reassurance. We are free from condemnation because of our relationship with Jesus Christ, and as we walk according to the Spirit, we tap into the incredible power that God has placed within us.
So, as we delve into this message of freedom and power, let's open our hearts and minds to what God has to say to us today. Join me in prayer as we ask for His guidance and wisdom.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your word and the truths that it contains. As we study Romans 8:1 today, we ask that You open our hearts and minds to receive the message that You have for us. Help us to fully grasp the freedom we have in Christ and the power of Your Holy Spirit working in our lives. May we leave today feeling renewed, refreshed, and empowered to live the life You have called us to. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Now, let's dive in.
The idea of God having you covered is a reminder that no matter what we face in life, God is always with us, providing protection, guidance, and strength. It’s rooted in the understanding that God's love for us is so great that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins, so that we might be reconciled to Him and experience the fullness of His love and grace.
One of the key aspects of this message is the idea that God's covering is all-encompassing. It is not limited to certain areas of our lives or specific situations. Instead, God's covering extends to every aspect of our lives, from our physical well-being to our emotional and spiritual health. This means that no matter what challenges we face, we can trust that God is with us, providing the strength and support we need to overcome them.
We often fall into the trap of thinking that we need to earn God's love and protection by being "good enough" or by doing the right things. However, the truth is that God's love for us is unconditional, and His covering is a gift that is freely given to us through our relationship with Jesus Christ. This means that we can rest in the knowledge that God's Got You Covered, not because of anything we have done, but because of His great love for us.
As believers, we have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within us and empowers us to live a life that is pleasing to God. The Holy Spirit is our helper, our guide, and our source of strength, and it is through His power that we are able to walk in the freedom that Christ has won for us. This means that when we face challenges or difficulties, we can trust that the Holy Spirit is with us, providing the wisdom, guidance, and strength we need to overcome them.
We live in a world that is filled with turmoil, pain, and suffering, and it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the challenges we face. However, this message reminds us that God is in control, and that He has a plan and a purpose for our lives. This means that even when we face difficulties, we can trust that God is working all things together for our good and for His glory. This knowledge gives us the confidence and the courage to face whatever life throws our way, knowing that God is with us and that He has got us covered.
As believers, we often struggle with feelings of guilt and shame, believing that we are not worthy of God's love and forgiveness. However, the truth is that Jesus has set us free from the power of sin and death, and there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. This means that we can live in the freedom of God's grace, knowing that we are forgiven, loved, and accepted by Him.
This message of freedom from condemnation is especially important in today's world, where we are constantly bombarded with messages that tell us we are not good enough, not worthy, or not deserving of love and acceptance. The enemy uses these lies to keep us trapped in a cycle of guilt and shame, preventing us from experiencing the fullness of life that God has for us.
However, when we embrace the truth that God's Got You Covered, we can break free from these lies and live in the freedom and joy that comes from knowing that we are loved, accepted, and forgiven by God.
Pastor, here would be a good place to share a personal story about how God has covered you and protected you in the past.
