Summary: "God's Call For Revival"

2 Chronicles 7:12-22 - "God's Call For Revival"

14 If my people, which are called by my name

1. The People of Revival. “If my people.”

1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

(a) A Called People - Isa 43:1 now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine

(b) A Cleansed People - Ezek 16:6 And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee when thou wast in thy blood, Live.

(c) A Crowned People - Mal 3:17 And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

(d) A Comforted People - Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

2. The Posture of Revival. “Humble themselves...”

(a) PRIDE must be ELIMINATED. - James 4:10

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up”

(b) PRAYER must be ESTABLISHED - and pray

(c) PURITY must be EXHIBITED - and seek my face

(d) PARDON must be EXPERIENCED - and turn from their wicked ways

(e) POWER must be EXCHANGED. : “then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

3. The Prayer of Revival. “And pray.”

Prayer doesn’t make a difference - prayer is the difference.

Revival is not planned out or worked up, but it is prayed down.

A. It's A Challenge to Be Dependent – “Humble themselves and pray”

B. It's A Challenge To Be Devoted – “Seek my face” –

C. It's A Challenge To Be Different – “Turn from their wicked ways” –

D. It's A Challenge To Be Defiant – “then will I hear from heaven" -

4. The Priority of Revival. “Seek my face...”

(a) Not seeking God’s hand, - His provision.

(b) Not seeking God’s heart, - His pleasure,

(c) Seeking God's Face - His person -

1 Sam 12:24 Only fear the LORD, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

Vance Havner said, “We have a cheap church today because everybody is in it. Anybody can get in and nobody gets out. What started as a sheepfold looks more like a zoo!”

5. The Purity of Revival. “Turn from their wicked ways...” Psa 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” 6. The Promise of Revival. “Then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

A. He Will Hear Us – “Then will I hear from Heaven” –

B. He Will Help Us – “and will forgive their sin” –

C. He Will Heal Us – "and will heal their land.”
