Understand that true wealth comes from God, is not solely measured by material possessions, and should be used for His glory.
Good morning, family! Today we're diving deep into a topic that might seem a little uncomfortable but is utterly important to our understanding of God's will for us - Wealth. Yes, you heard it right. We're touching on the hot-button issue of God's provision of wealth, the source of true wealth, and the blessing of wealth.
In Deuteronomy 8:18, the Good Book tells us,
"But remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms His covenant, which He swore to your ancestors, as it is today."
This scripture passage is a stark reminder that our abilities, our prosperity, and our wealth all come from the Lord.
Our dear brother in Christ, Charles Spurgeon, once said, "It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness." We are reminded that our true wealth is not measured by material possessions but by our relationship with God and the joy that stems from it.
Let's bow our heads in prayer as we begin our sermon today.
Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for the provision you have poured out upon us. We recognize that every good gift comes from you, and we ask that you guide our hearts and minds as we explore your word today. Help us to understand the true meaning of wealth and to use whatever resources we have for your glory. Amen.
So, let's dive right in, shall we? Let's explore what God's word has to tell us about wealth, its real source, and the blessings it can bring when used rightly.
God's provision of wealth is a theme that is interwoven throughout the Old and New Testaments, serving as a constant reminder of God's love, care, and provision for His people.
When we talk about God's provision of wealth, we are not merely referring to monetary or material wealth. Instead, we are talking about a holistic view of wealth that encompasses all the blessings that God bestows upon us.
Biblical examples: In the Old Testament, we see God providing for the Israelites in the wilderness by sending manna from heaven. In the New Testament, Jesus miraculously feeds thousands with just a few loaves of bread and fish. These stories serve as vivid reminders that God is our ultimate provider, and it is He who gives us the ability to produce wealth.
Gifts: Our verse underscores the fact that our abilities, talents, and skills - the very things that enable us to create wealth - are gifts from God. They are not things that we have acquired on our own, but rather, they are blessings that God has graciously bestowed upon us.
Our spiritual needs: In Ephesians 1:3, Paul writes, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ." This verse reminds us that God has provided us with every spiritual blessing in Christ. These spiritual blessings - peace, joy, love, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control - are a form of wealth that far surpasses any material wealth.
Not a guarantee of a life free from hardship or struggle: In fact, the Bible makes it clear that we will face trials and tribulations in this life. However, even in the midst of these challenges, we can trust in God's provision. As Paul writes in Philippians 4:19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." This verse reassures us that God will provide for our needs, not according to our own limited resources, but according to His limitless riches in Christ Jesus.
A reflection of His love and care for us: It is a testament to His faithfulness and His commitment to uphold His covenant with us. It is a reminder that He is our ultimate provider and that our true wealth comes from Him.
The source of true wealth, as we understand from the scriptures, is not found in the abundance of possessions or the accumulation of worldly riches ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
