INTRODUCTION:

There are seasons in life when it seems as if the wicked prosper and the righteous suffer. Injustice, oppression, and wickedness often prevail in the world, leaving the faithful discouraged. But Scripture assures us that God is not indifferent to injustice. He is the God of Vengeance, who arises in His time to judge the oppressors and fight for His people.

Vengeance belongs to God—not man. His vengeance is not vindictive, but righteous. It is a response to sin, cruelty, and rebellion, carried out in divine justice. The believer’s role is to trust God and not take revenge into their own hands. God’s vengeance defends, vindicates, and delivers His own.

This message will reveal how God executes vengeance, why we must leave judgment to Him, and how to position ourselves for divine vindication.

1. GOD IS A GOD OF JUSTICE AND JUDGMENT

God's nature includes justice. He cannot overlook sin and wickedness.

a) God Will Always Judge the Wicked (Psalm 94:1-3)

The cries of the oppressed reach Him, and He responds in time.

b) Vengeance Belongs to God Alone (Deuteronomy 32:35)

We must not seek personal revenge—He will repay.

c) God’s Judgment is Always Righteous (Revelation 19:2)

He acts in truth and justice without error.

d) God Avenges His People for His Glory (Isaiah 35:4)

He comes with vengeance to save and restore His people.

Biblical Example: Pharaoh and the Egyptians were judged for their oppression of Israel—God executed vengeance through plagues and the Red Sea (Exodus 14:24-31).

2. GOD’S VENGEANCE DEFENDS AND DELIVERS HIS OWN

God takes vengeance to protect and liberate His people.

a) God is Jealous for His People’s Safety (Nahum 1:2)

He watches over His children and arises when they are afflicted.

b) Divine Vengeance Silences Oppression (Isaiah 63:4)

God acts when the enemy’s affliction becomes unbearable.

c) Vengeance Leads to Restoration and Honour (Zechariah 2:8-9)

God strikes those who touch His anointed.

d) God Will Trouble Those Who Trouble You (2 Thessalonians 1:6)

Divine justice repays affliction to the oppressors.

Biblical Example: Haman, who plotted to destroy Mordecai and the Jews, was hanged on the very gallows he prepared (Esther 7:10).

3. GOD’S PEOPLE MUST NOT AVENGE THEMSELVES

We must resist the urge to retaliate. Leave it to God.

a) Do Not Repay Evil with Evil (Romans 12:17)

God’s way is higher and more effective.

b) Overcome Evil with Good (Romans 12:21)

Your forgiveness is a sign of spiritual maturity.

c) God’s Vengeance is Swift and Sure (Isaiah 34:8)

He never forgets the injustice done to His people.

d) Commit Your Case to God in Prayer (Psalm 35:1-3)

Plead your cause before the righteous Judge.

Biblical Example: Jesus, though betrayed and crucified unjustly, did not retaliate. He committed His cause to the Father (1 Peter 2:23).

4. GOD WILL VINDICATE THE RIGHTEOUS OPENLY

When God arises, He exalts the humble and brings justice.

a) God Will Avenge Speedily (Luke 18:7-8)

Even if delayed, His judgment will not be denied.

b) He Prepares a Table in the Presence of Enemies (Psalm 23:5)

Your elevation becomes the evidence of divine vindication.

c) Vengeance Clears the Way for Restoration (Joel 2:25-27)

God restores the years lost to oppression.

d) His Judgments Establish His Sovereignty (Exodus 9:16)

God’s acts of vengeance display His power to the nations.

Biblical Example: Daniel was vindicated when those who accused him were thrown into the lions’ den after his miraculous deliverance (Daniel 6:24).

CONCLUSION:

The God of Vengeance is a just and righteous Judge who defends His people, punishes the wicked, and vindicates the oppressed. As believers, we must not take matters into our own hands. Trust God to fight your battles. His vengeance is perfect, purposeful, and powerful. When God rises in vengeance, every oppressor is silenced, and every injustice is reversed.

No matter what you’ve suffered—false accusations, betrayal, oppression—God sees it all. He is not asleep. He will arise on your behalf and restore honour, peace, and joy to your life. Wait on Him, for vengeance is His, and He will repay.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, arise and fight every battle I cannot fight.

2. Father, expose and silence every voice of false accusation against me.

3. O God of vengeance, repay the enemies of my peace.

4. Vindicate me, O Lord, and lift my head above my adversaries.

5. Lord, restore everything I have lost due to injustice and oppression.
