Summary: A message concerning the Omnipotence of God.

GOD OF THE UNIVERSE

Acts 17:22-34

INTRO: In this day that we live in when everybody is in such a hurry, and trying to obtain as much for themselves as they can, we sometimes wonder if our God is really the God of all, and if everything really belongs to Him.

Today, we want to take a few minutes to look at our world as see if God is really the God of the Universe.

I. GOD CREATED ALL THINGS.

A. Since God made it all (v. 24):

1. He is Lord of it all.

2. He made all things in the world today.

a. He made all things good.

b. Man has taken what God made and turned some things into

bad.

B. He dwelleth not in things made by man.

1. Though we make things for Him.

2. His dwelling place is in heaven.

II. A GOD WHO SUSTAINS OUR LIVES.

A. God is not dependent upon us for anything (v. 25).

1. Though we are dependent upon Him for everything.

2. Even our most automatic processes are dependent upon Him.

B. We can do nothing without His help.

III. A GOD WHO RULES IN HUMAN HISTORY (v. 25).

A. Everyone traces his blood to a common ancestor.

B. God has determined the times and power of the nations.

C. God is still on the throne in human history.

IV. A GOD OF GRACE [love and mercy] (v. 27).

A. He is not far from us.

B. If we seek Him, He will find us.

V. GOD OF WHOM ALL MEN MUST GIVE AN ACCOUNT.

A. In the end, we must all stand before God in judgment.

B. If we accept that one which He hath ordained, we can escape

ever lasting Hell.

CONC: Even though we may deny that God owns all things and that He made

everything that we have today, and that we are dependent upon Him for every thing, He is still the God of the universe, and some day we will give account to Him for the way that we have managed His business here on earth.
