INTRODUCTION:
In a world filled with weakness, limitations, and weariness, there is a God who never grows tired—He is the God of Strength. He is the source of all power, both physical and spiritual. While human strength fails, God’s strength is infinite and unchanging. From the beginning of Scripture, we see that God is not only mighty but delights in strengthening those who depend on Him.
The strength God gives is not just muscular or physical—it is emotional, spiritual, and mental. His strength upholds the weary, empowers the weak, and enables His children to overcome insurmountable challenges. Whether facing temptation, affliction, or opposition, the believer can be victorious through divine strength.
As we explore this theme, may we draw closer to the One who gives strength to the faint and power to those who wait on Him.
1. GOD IS THE SOURCE OF ALL TRUE STRENGTH
No strength is lasting unless it comes from God.
a) God’s Strength Is Perfect and Eternal (Isaiah 40:28)
He never faints nor grows weary; His understanding is unsearchable.
b) God Is Our Refuge and Fortress (Psalm 18:1-2)
David described God as his strength, shield, and stronghold in times of battle.
c) His Strength Is Made Perfect in Weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)
God doesn’t need our strength—He uses our weakness to show His power.
d) We Draw Strength by Trusting in Him (Psalm 27:1)
When the Lord is our strength, fear and defeat vanish.
Biblical Example: Samson—Though flawed, his supernatural strength came from the Lord and not from human effort (Judges 14:5-6).
2. GOD GIVES STRENGTH TO HIS PEOPLE
He empowers His children to walk in victory, not defeat.
a) God Strengthens the Weary and the Weak (Isaiah 40:29)
He gives power to the faint and increases the strength of the weak.
b) We Are Commanded to Be Strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10)
Strength is not self-generated but imparted by divine empowerment.
c) Strength Comes Through His Joy (Nehemiah 8:10)
“The joy of the Lord is your strength”—when we rejoice in Him, we are energized.
d) Divine Strength is for Life and Purpose (Philippians 4:13)
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”—strength is for destiny fulfilment.
Biblical Example: Elijah—He was supernaturally strengthened by God for a 40-day journey to Horeb (1 Kings 19:7-8).
3. GOD STRENGTHENS US IN TIMES OF ADVERSITY
Divine strength shines brightest in the darkest seasons.
a) Strength to Overcome Trials (Psalm 46:1-2)
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
b) Strength to Stand in Spiritual Battles (2 Timothy 2:1)
“Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”—grace is a reservoir of strength.
c) Strength in Persecution and Challenges (Daniel 11:32b)
“The people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits.”
d) Strength to Persevere and Not Faint (Galatians 6:9)
Do not be weary in well-doing; strength will carry you to harvest.
Biblical Example: Job—Though afflicted, Job drew strength from his knowledge of God and endured to the end (Job 19:25-27).
4. HOW TO ACCESS GOD’S STRENGTH
We don’t earn His strength—we receive it by grace and faith.
a) Wait Upon the Lord in Prayer and Trust (Isaiah 40:31)
Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.
b) Meditate on the Word and Promises of God (Joshua 1:8-9)
God's Word injects courage and power into our inner man.
c) Rely on the Holy Spirit for Daily Empowerment (Acts 1:8)
“You shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon you.”
d) Confess God’s Strength Over Your Life (Joel 3:10)
Let the weak say, “I am strong!” Speak strength until you feel it.
Biblical Example: Paul—In his many sufferings, Paul relied on divine strength, not human power (2 Corinthians 11:23-30).
CONCLUSION:
God’s strength is not reserved for the mighty or perfect—it is for the humble, the waiting, and the willing. He strengthens those who know their limitations and run to Him. As you journey through life and face trials, temptations, and tasks beyond your ability, remember that the God of Strength is your Helper, your Fortress, and your Sustainer.
Draw from His endless well of power and rise above every weakness. His strength will never fail, and those who trust in Him will soar like eagles and never grow weary.
