INTRODUCTION:
Elevation is the act of being lifted up from a lower place to a higher one, and in the spiritual context, it refers to God’s divine lifting of His children into new positions of favour, honour, and purpose. In a world where men seek positions through connections, manipulation, or compromise, the Bible teaches that true and lasting elevation comes only from God.
The God of Elevation does not lift based on background, status, or human qualifications. He lifts according to His purpose, timing, and favour. All through Scripture, we see examples of ordinary people whom God lifted extraordinarily. When God decides to elevate a man, no force of hell can resist it.
In this sermon, we will explore the nature of divine elevation, how to position ourselves for it, and how God uses elevation to fulfil His kingdom purpose.
1. GOD IS THE SOURCE OF TRUE ELEVATION
Human efforts may bring temporary positions, but only God gives lasting promotion.
a) Promotion Comes from the Lord (Psalm 75:6-7)
God alone decides who should be lifted and who should be brought down.
b) God Lifts the Humble and Brings Down the Proud (James 4:10)
Elevation requires humility and surrender to God's will.
c) No One Can Stop God's Elevation Plan for You (Isaiah 43:13)
When God lifts, no one can oppose or reverse it.
d) God Elevates According to His Purpose (Romans 9:15-16)
It’s not of him that wills or runs, but of God who shows mercy.
Biblical Example: God elevated David from shepherd boy to king (1 Samuel 16:11-13).
2. GOD USES ELEVATION TO FULFIL DESTINY
Elevation is not for show, but for purpose.
a) Divine Elevation Aligns with Divine Assignment (Genesis 41:39-44)
Joseph was elevated to preserve nations during famine.
b) Your Gift Makes Room for Elevation (Proverbs 18:16)
God uses the gifts He gave you to bring you into prominence.
c) Elevation Often Comes Through Trials (1 Peter 5:10)
After you have suffered a while, He will establish and settle you.
d) God Elevates to Bring Glory to His Name (John 9:3)
Every divine lifting is a platform for divine glory.
Biblical Example: Joseph’s elevation in Egypt fulfilled God’s plan for Israel (Genesis 45:4-8).
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR DIVINE ELEVATION
God’s lifting is conditional upon character and obedience.
a) Humility Precedes Honour (Proverbs 22:4)
God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.
b) Faithfulness in Small Things (Luke 16:10)
God tests our consistency before granting elevation.
c) Righteousness Exalts (Proverbs 14:34)
Living a life that pleases God attracts divine promotion.
d) Patience and Trust in God’s Timing (Ecclesiastes 3:11)
Waiting on God leads to elevation at the right season.
Biblical Example: Daniel was elevated because of his integrity and devotion (Daniel 6:1-3).
4. GOD'S ELEVATION IS TIMELY AND UNDENIABLE
When God elevates you, everyone sees it.
a) He Makes the Least Become the Greatest (Isaiah 60:22)
God specialises in lifting the forgotten and ignored.
b) He Changes Times and Seasons (Daniel 2:21)
When your season comes, nothing can stop your rising.
c) Divine Elevation Comes Suddenly (Malachi 3:1)
God can turn your story around in a single day.
d) The Glory of Your Latter Days Shall Be Greater (Haggai 2:9)
Your elevation will surpass all your past limitations.
Biblical Example: Mordecai was honoured and elevated unexpectedly (Esther 6:10-11).
CONCLUSION:
The God we serve is not only the One who saves—He lifts. He changes destinies and repositions men for kingdom relevance and societal impact. Your background, mistakes, or current situation cannot stop His plan to elevate you. All He asks is for you to stay humble, faithful, and aligned with His purpose.
As you submit to Him, He will lift you to places beyond your imagination. When the God of Elevation steps in, the rejected becomes celebrated, and the overlooked becomes the chosen. Prepare for divine lifting!
