Summary: Movement is important for our wellbeing and movement towards God is crucial as well.

Jeremiah 31: 7-14 God Moves People

1. Movement is vital to our life

• We often tell the patient if don’t use it you lose it

• Movement helps keep your body strong and fit, and can improve your balance,

• Movement can help relieve stress and anxiety, Movement helps keep bones strong

2. In the readings today Jeremiah is sharing about a people moving they are moving back home

• They were in captivity by Babylon but the Assyrians are allowing the Israelites to return home.

• Jeremiah says, “See, I am going to bring them from the north and gather them from the farthest parts of the earth, among them the blind, the lame, those with child those in labor together a great company, they shall return

• It sounds like everybody everything is moving blind the lame, the pregnant, the entire group

3. In the process of moving we lose stuff

• I have moved a lot and you always lose something or leave it behind.

• Now if God is moving us then maybe some baggage we leave behind is good to be left.

• Perhaps it’s good we leave some baggage Resentment, impatience, intolerance, guilt bitterness.

4. God Moves people, God moved Joseph. God is a mover and consider Joseph.

• Joseph sold by his brothers into slavery and Joseph moves up to position as pharaoh and has the power to get revenge on his brothers he says, “So it was not you who sent me here, but God" God moved me

• God moved Abraham from Mesopotamia to Canaan and his wife was barren but conceived and his children were as many as the stars in the sky

• Moses moved the Hebrews out of slavery. To The land flowing with milk and honey.

• Joseph moved his family (Mary and Jesus) to Egypt for a couple years.

• The apostle Paul was always Moving from place to place making disciples building churches.

5. Perhaps the most traumatic move of all: The Jews were taken from their homeland and deported to Babylon to live in exile — but God is going move them back to their homeland.

• Moving is difficult but it is necessary sometimes

• When God is moving us it’s always for our betterment.

• God moved the Israelites from their homeland to a foreign country “He who scattered Israel will gather him and will keep him as a shepherd does a flock.

6. God moves us from Satan lies. Satan is strong but God is greater.

• For the Lord has ransomed Jacob and has redeemed him from hands too strong for him.

• Jeremiah tells us God moved Jacob or Israel so they could come and sing of the height of Zion, God said, “they shall be radiant over the goodness of the Lord, over the grain, the wine, and the oil, and over the young of the flock and the herd; their life shall become like a watered garden,and they shall never languish

• God moved Jacob so their life could be joyful. young women rejoice in the dance, Young men

7. God will Move us from this foreign land to our heavenly Home

• In that Home We will not be old or feeble anymore.

• God will Move us from times and tears of sorrow to gladness. God moved Israel so their mourning turns into joy; God says, “I will comfort them and give them gladness for sorrow.” When it’s all said and done it’s going be alright I am not ok but it all gone-a be alright
