And David perceived that the Lord had established him king over Israel and that He had exalted his kingdom for His people Israel’s sake.

"David became greater and greater"

Greater means to grew in knowledge better than before, mighty, older, exceeding, more noble.

THERE WAS a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. But David grew stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul grew weaker and weaker.

What's more, those who oppose King David grewn weaker and weaker for the HOLY ONE of Israel already left King Saul and is now with King David.
