God is Stability in This Unstable World

**Introduction:**

Beloved, as we gather today, we find ourselves in a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain.

With the news filled with stories of turmoil, suffering,

With the devastating floods that hit our area by hurricane Helen

and the ever-looming fear of war in the middle East.

Praying for the peace of Israel and that God will protect them

it is easy for us to feel very overwhelmed.

Yet, amidst this instability,

we are reminded that our God is THE source of peace and stability in not just our lives but those whom we influence around us.

"Peace" in the original Hebrew language is, "Shalom" (???????),

which conveys a sense of completeness, wholeness, and well-being.

the Hebrew word For "Stability," is "Yashar" (??????),

meaning straight or upright, often implying moral integrity and steadfastness.

Tonight, we will explore how peace comes from God

and how we can anchor ourselves in His promises.

Our main idea is simple yet profound:

With all of the issues resonating in this world,

we need the peace of God like never before.

** 1: Peace is a Promise from God**

In 1 Samuel 25:6, we read,

1 Samuel 25:6 (KJV) And thus shall ye say to him that liveth in prosperity, Peace be both to thee, and peace be to thine house, and peace be unto all that thou hast.

This verse reminds us that God desires for us to experience peace and well-being.

He promises us stability in our lives.

John 14:27 (KJV) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Here, we see that the peace of God is not like the fleeting peace the world offers;

it is a deep, abiding peace that calms our hearts amidst chaos.

-Remember God's Unchanging Nature

God's character remains constant amidst chaos.

Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;.

** 2: God’s Peace Sustains Us in Troubling Times**

Psalms 29:11 declares,

Psa 29:11 The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

When we face trials and tribulations,

it is God’s peace that sustains us.

Psa 37:11 But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

This verse reassures us that even in times of distress,

those who trust in God will find peace and prosperity.

Ecclesiastes 3:8 reminds us that there is “a time for war and a time for peace.”

In our current climate, we must seek the time for peace

and allow God’s presence to envelop us.

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

** 3: We Are Called to Be Peacemakers**

In Matthew 10:13, Jesus instructs His disciples, saying,

Mat 10:13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

We are called to be vessels of God’s peace in a world filled with strife.

Psa 120:7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

As followers of Christ, we must actively pursue peace and share it with others.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

**Conclusion:**

remember that God is our stability in this unstable world.

His peace is a promise that sustains us through troubling times

His peace empowers us to be peacemakers to those around us.

In a world filled with fear and uncertainty,

let us cling to the assurance that God’s peace surpasses all understanding

(Philippians 4:7) and is available to each one of us.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
