While temptations are inevitable, God provides us with the strength to endure them and always offers a way out.

Introduction

Good morning, brothers and sisters in Christ. We gather today to delve into the wisdom of the Word, to explore some powerful truths found in Matthew and 1 Corinthians.

As C.S. Lewis once said, "God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain." This is a perfect encapsulation of the journey we're embarking on today.

Matthew 26:41 says, "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."

In 1 Corinthians 10:13, we read, "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

Lastly, Matthew 18:7 states, "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to stumble! Such things must come, but woe to the person through whom they come!"

Let's bow our heads for a moment of prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before you today, asking for your wisdom and strength. Open our hearts and minds to your Word. Remind us of your constant presence and your unfailing love. Help us to stand firm against any temptation we may face, knowing that you provide a way out. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

So sit back, open your hearts, and let's unpack these verses together.

God is Our Strength

The concept that God is our strength is a truth that provides comfort, encouragement, and empowerment to believers. It is a reminder that we are not alone in our struggles, that we have a divine ally who is not only willing but able to strengthen us in our times of need.

A testament to His omnipotence: God, the creator of the universe, the one who holds all power and authority, offers His strength to us. This is not a strength that is limited or finite, but one that is boundless and infinite. It is a strength that can move mountains, part seas, and bring the dead back to life. It is a strength that is greater than any force in the universe. When we say that God is our strength, we are acknowledging that we are tapping into this divine power, a power that is beyond our comprehension, a power that can overcome any obstacle we face.

An affirmation of His love for us: God does not offer His strength to us out of obligation or necessity, but out of love. He sees our struggles, our weaknesses, and our failures, and instead of abandoning us, He offers us His strength. He does not want us to be overwhelmed or defeated. He wants us to overcome, to triumph, to be more than conquerors. His strength is a manifestation of His love, a love that is steadfast and unchanging.

A call to dependence on Him: It is an invitation to lean on Him, to rely on Him, to trust in Him. It is a call to surrender our self-sufficiency, our pride, our independence, and to acknowledge our need for Him. It is a call to admit our weakness, to recognize our limitations, and to accept His strength. It is a call to let go of our illusions of control and to embrace His sovereignty.

A source of hope: It is a promise that we do not have to face our trials alone, that we do not have to rely on our own strength, that we do not have to be defeated by our weaknesses. It is a promise that with God, we can overcome, we can endure, we can prevail. It is a promise that gives us hope, a hope that is unshakeable, a hope that is enduring.

In the face of life's challenges: It is easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when we remember that God is our strength, we can find the courage to face these challenges head-on. We can find the resilience to keep going, even when the going gets tough. We can find the confidence to stand firm, even when the ground beneath us is shaking.
