GOD IS CALLING YOU

Matthew 20:29-34

INTRODUCTION: The fields are white unto harvest and God is calling you. Are you willing to say, “Here am I. Lord, send me?"

May we consider three things in the Scriptures we have just read:

First, the condition of the sinners; second, the compassion of the Savior; third, the cross of the Saint.

I. THE CONDITION OF SINNERS

Jesus raised THREE people who are typical of dead sinners.

a. Jairus’ daughter – both she and the woman with the issue of blood were near death. The woman had been ill for 12 years the girl was nearly 12 years old.

b. The widow’s son – the widow of Nain, her only son

c. Lazarus

1. THEY WERE DEAD SPIRITUALLY

Ephesians 2:1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

2. THEY WERE DISEASED PHYSICALLY.

They were blind.

Jesus is the only one who can open blind eyes

3. THEY WERE DESPISED SOCIALLY

They were rebuked by the multitude

These beggars had no means to pay their own way

II. THE COMPASSION OF THE SAVIOUR

Jesus saw:

1. Their departure from God. He saw them as sheep scattered abroad.

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

2. Their despair in being blind. He knew they could not find the way

3. Their destiny in hell, He knew they were headed for something worse than physical blindness.

III. THE CROSS OF THE SAINT

1. The Cross of Self-denial

Luke 9:23 If any man come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me.

2. The Cross of Sacrifice

Romans 12:1 I beseech you, therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, which is your reasonable service.

3. The Cross of Service

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

This is every Christian’s responsibility.
