Summary: No matter how great Super Glue is, I want to talk to you tonight about someone that is better than glue in bonding things together. And His name is Jesus Christ,

Introduction:

Many of you have probably never heard of Harry Coover, but probably most of us have what he invented in our homes- Super Glue.

He developed Super Glue by accident. Coover, an engineer for Eastman Kodak was working on a task assigned to him to make clear plastic gun sights. The material that he invented to make the gun sights was terrible for making gun sights, but it was great at bonding things together. Thus, Super Glue was born.

And no matter how great Super Glue is, I want to talk to you tonight about someone that is better than glue in bonding things together. And His name is Jesus Christ,

Scripture:

(1) I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally. (2) My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, (3) in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:1-3 - NIV

I want to share that God's knitting in love is greater than Super Glue.

Point #1

Superglue cannot cause an object to grow, but God's knitting together causes growth.

(16) From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:16 - NIV

Point #2

Superglue can only bind two things together; God's kitting together can bring life to the thing.

(11) clothe me with skin and flesh and knit me together with bones and sinews? (12) You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit. Job 10:11-12 - NIV

(13) For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. Psalm 139:13 - NIV

Point #3

There is not enough super glue in the world to do what God does in holdings all things together.

(16) For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. (17) He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossians 1:16-17 - NIV

Point #4

You can super glue something, it falls, and cracks again. With God 's knitting together you never have to worry- when He knits it holds.

(38) For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, (39) neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 - NIV
