God Is Able!

God makes promises and will keep them and HE has. There are many verses that describe God as "God is . . . (and it says many times the one word. . . ABLE.

Jeremiah 32:17 says "there is nothing too hard for God to make" and He did everything was made in abundance -- the stars. . . oceans . . . birds . . . mountains . . . trees. . . sunrises and sunsets. etc. The Bible has many descriptions of His power what HE is able to do - - Floods, Opening of Seas, Sun stood still. Many destructions of lands and people and nations as well.

Martin Luther King preached a sermon entitled "God Is Able!" and it focused on God's power to destroy evil things and powers -- Hitler, Communism, and others. Hebrews 7:25 says "God is Able to save by the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. " To say that He saves "to the uttermost "is not talking about the world, but refers to whatever is going on in your life... He will save YOU! HE IS ABLE TO SAVE YOU!

Ask Abraham and Sarah "Is there anything too hard for God?" Ask Moses as God opened the seas. Ask Jonah as He was delivered from the Big Fish. Ask Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendigo in the fiery furnace. Ask Elisha when he was surrounded by a hostile army? God is ABLE to rescue, to save, to over rule people and save people. He can bring rain and HE can stop the rain.

2 Corinthians 9:8 says God is able to make GRACE abound so that you can abound in every work." Jesus said "To be afraid of the ONE who can destroy you and bring you to Hades/Hell." Romans 14:4 says "The Lord is able to make you stand. . . " To stand against the trials and difficulties that come in our way. To stand and be strong.

Ephesians 3:20-21 says God is able to do more than we ask or imagine abundantly more" 2 Timothy 1:12 says But I know whom I have believed that HE IS ABLE to keep that which I have committed, unto Him, against that day."

Conclusion: Daniel Whittle war a Civil War soldier who was imprisoned during the war, but he had memorized scriptures that helped him get thru those very tough times, He became a preacher and wrote songs but gave us this one that we love to sing.
