David's story teaches us to keep our focus on God above all else. We must recognize the "giants" in our lives and trust that God is bigger and more powerful.
Today, we're gonna dig deep into the story of David. Let's jump into 1 Samuel 17:12-28. David was the youngest in his family, and his job was to look after the sheep. Not exactly glamorous, right? But God didn't care about that. He saw David's heart.
Ever felt like you're not taken seriously because you're young? David knew that feeling. His own brother, Eliab, called him conceited in verse 28. But you know what? The Bible tells us that young people can set an example in how we talk, how we act, how we love, how we believe, and how we stay pure.
He saw David's heart.
Imagine you're facing a giant, like a massive wall. Now, picture a tiny pebble. Seems ridiculous to think that pebble could take down the wall, right? But that's exactly what David did. He took down a giant with a small stone.
David wasn't focused on the giant. He was focused on God. In 1 Samuel 17:26, he's like, "Who does this Philistine think he is, defying the armies of the living God?" David's faith in God was way bigger than any giant he faced.
So, what's your giant? Maybe it's fear, or doubt, or loneliness. Whatever it is, remember that God is bigger. He's got your back. You're not just some kid to Him. You're His child, chosen and loved. Stay connected to Him, and remember, it's all for His glory.
Let's pray together. God, help us to be like David, to trust in You no matter what giants we face. Help us to remember that we are chosen and loved by You. Amen.
1. Who is a "giant" in your life?
2. How can you show faith like David did?
3. How can focusing on God help you overcome your "giant"?
