Explores honoring God through generosity and stewardship of wealth, emphasizing giving as an act of worship and trust in God's provision.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved family of God. As we gather in this sacred space, let us turn our hearts and minds towards the wisdom of Proverbs, a book that is a treasure trove of divine insights, a guidebook for navigating the winding roads of life.

Today, we will be turning the pages to Proverbs 3:9, which reads,

"Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops."

Isn't this a powerful call, dear friends? A call that reverberates through the ages, echoing in our hearts with a resonance that is as profound as it is challenging. It is a call to honor God, not just with our words, our prayers, or our worship, but with our wealth. It is a call to recognize that all we have is a gift from Him and to offer back to Him the firstfruits of our labor in gratitude and humility.

Honoring God with Your Wealth

When we think about our wealth, we often think about it in terms of what we can do with it for ourselves. We think about the things we can buy, the experiences we can afford, the security we can create. But the wisdom of Proverbs challenges us to think about our wealth in a different way. It challenges us to think about our wealth in terms of what we can do with it for God.

What does it mean to do something for God with our wealth?: It means to use our wealth in ways that honor Him, that reflect His values, that advance His kingdom. It's about recognizing that our wealth is not really ours, but His, and that we are merely stewards of what He has entrusted to us. It's about making choices with our wealth that demonstrate our love for God, our gratitude for His blessings, and our trust in His provision.

This is not always easy: It requires a shift in our thinking, a change in our priorities, a willingness to let go of our own desires and plans. It requires us to see our wealth not as a means to our own ends, but as a tool for God's purposes. It requires us to be generous, not out of obligation, but out of love. It requires us to be faithful, not out of fear, but out of trust.

When we choose to honor God with our wealth: We’ll discover a joy and a fulfillment that far surpasses anything that wealth can buy. We discover the joy of giving, the fulfillment of serving, the peace of trusting. We discover the blessing of being part of God's work in the world, of making a difference in the lives of others, of investing in things that have eternal value.

So how do we honor God with our wealth? There are many ways, but let's consider four key principles.
