Series: Israel’s 1st King [#3]

GOD EQUIPS SAUL

1 Samuel 10:1-27

Introduction:

In 1 Samuel 9 we saw the human side of Saul (what he was himself), and in chapter 10 we see God’s working in Saul’s life (what God did for him). It’s important for us to see both aspects in Saul’s life. God creates us with specific characteristics because He has certain tasks for each one of us to perform. Remember that Saul was God’s choice to be the King of Israel. God did it because the people needed a King, and He was going to teach them an important spiritual lesson. Let’s look at how God equipped Saul to be the King of Israel.

1 Samuel 10:1-2

God will…

1. Solve your problems.

After Samuel anointed Saul, he assured him that the donkeys had been found and that he could stop worrying. When the servant of God is in the will of God, God solves the problems. If you have been called to a place of leadership and yet you are worried or anxious about some situation, remember that God can solve your problems. Just do what God wants you to do.

1 Samuel 10:3-4

God will…

2. Supply your needs.

Saul needed food, and God supplied it. We are called to be faithful to God and allow Him to supply the needs.

1 Samuel 10:5-11

God will…

3. Supply the power you need.

Samuel told Saul that he would come to the hill of God and would meet some prophets. God would make a new person out of Saul when the Spirit of God would come upon him. This would transform him from as ordinary farmer into a leader.

In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came upon specific people for specific purposes. Now, the Holy Spirit is in all Christians, which means that we have all of the power we need.

1 Samuel 10:12-27

God will…

4. Provide the people.

A King needs people, just like Christians need people.

Conclusion:

If you are serving God, He will give you all that is needed. He will solve the problems, give necessary provisions, provide the Holy Spirit power, assure you of His presence and call the right people to help you do the job He wants you to do. When Saul went home, he didn’t tell anyone about what had happened he appears to have been a very modest person in fact, when Samuel 1st met him.

Saul was sincerely humble. When his uncle asked what happened, Saul didn’t tell anything about his Kingship. If God calls you, then He will equip you. Trust Him and don’t run away from your calling. When God looked for Saul, he was hiding.
