God Did What He Would Not Let Abraham Do

Summary: I want to look at the love we should have towards God, and God’s love towards us.
Title: God did what he would not let Abraham do.
Text: Genesis 22:1-14
ETS: Abraham was willing to give his son because of his love for God.
ESS: God did give His son because of His love for us.
OSS: I want my people to see that God loves them.
Probing Question: How does God, like Abraham, show His love?

Transitional Sentence: Today I want to look at the love we should have towards God, and God’s love towards us.
I. Abraham: Ways he shows his love toward God.
A. God had promised Abraham. (Genesis 17:6-8)
1. It was not to come from Ishmael.(17: 15-19)
2. It was to come from his son born to Sarah.
B. Abraham was willing to give up Issac, because God asked him too.
1. Abraham never gave up hope that God would provide a lamb to sacrifice. (22:6-8)
2. God did provide a sacrifice. (22:13)
II. God: Ways He showed His love for us.
