A little boy was sitting on a park bench reading his bible, and as he read, he would shout " praise the Lord!"

A local college professor came by and heard him, and stopped to ask him what he was so excited about. The little boy told him that he was reading from the bible about the children of Israel fleeing from Pharaoh, and the Egyptian army. The little boy went on to tell him hows God had caused the Red Sea to part, allowing the Israelites to cross.

The professor told the little boy not to believe the bible. HE told him that it was just a collection of fairy tales, and old fables told over the years.

He told him that science had figured that the place where the Israelites had crossed the Red Sea was only 1 foot deep.

The little boy dropped his head, and the professor started to walk away. When the professor had gotten a few feet away, he heard the little boy say, " Praise the Lord, my God is awesome!"

The professor turned around and said " I thought I told you that the water was only 1 foot deep.

The little boy replied " well if it was only 1 foot deep, my God is even greater than I thought.

It says here that God caused the Red Sea to come back together and it destroyed the Pharaoh, and his entire army.

My God is able.

READ EPHESIANS 3:20

Who are we to try to put God in a box?

I. MY GOD IS ABLE TO DELIVER ME.

a. maybe you need deliverance from anger, bitterness, hatred, or some addiction.

My God is able to deliver you.

Maybe you are addicted to some drug, or pornography. God is able to deliver you.

B. ( illustration ) To trap a wolf, the Eskimos used to take a hunting knife, and dip it in animal blood, and freeze it, then put another layer of blood, and freeze it again, and then bury the knife in the snow with the blade exposed .

A wolf would come by and start licking the blood off of the blade of the knife.

The wolf would continue doing this until finally it wasn’t the animal blood that he was licking, it was his own, and he didn’t know the difference until it was too late, and he had bled to death.

That is the way we can get , when we are addicted to something. We start doing something , and before we know it, we no longer have control of our lives, our addiction has taken control.

But my God is able to free me from this bondage.

b. When Paul and Silas were thrown into jail, the bible tells us that about midnight, they sang songs of praise, and prayed, and God caused an earthquake that shook the foundations of the jail. The shackles came off, and the doors of the jail flew open.

c. Paul and Silas were delivered.

d. Prayer + praise = deliverance, My God is able

E. Whatever our circumstances, God is able to deliver us, but we have to believe in God’s timing, not ours.

Read Joshua 6:3-5

And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days. [4] And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. [5] And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

We too, have to keep on marching, keep on praying , keep on believing that God will deliver us. God is an on time God, He will deliver us, but in His time.

It is up to us not to give up, but to keep on seeking Him , and praying, and to keep on keeping on.

1. What if the woman with the issue of blood hadn’t kept on pressing through the crowd, just to touch Jesus ? She wouldn’t have been healed.

2. What if NAAMAN THE LEPER, hadn’t dipped in the Jordan 7 times as he was instructed? He wouldn’t have been cured of his leprosy.

3. And what if Jesus had stopped in the garden and not gone on to calvary? We would all be lost.

We need to realize that Jesus died for us, but mostly, Jesus died because of us.

- We must keep our focus on Jesus.
