Summary: IF WE GIVE GOD WILL REBUKE THE DEVOURER

Breaking the spirit of poverty. When we honor and obey God in giving he said in mal 3:11 that he would put in check and stop that which eats up and devours your treasure. We are called to have dominion.

Mat 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.

Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

The lord’s prayer is the centerpiece of an extended sermon by Jesus on money.

Debt is a bondage, a curse.

Mat 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Mat 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

Mat 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Pro_19:17 He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

Gen 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

Gen 14:19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

Gen 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Gen 14:21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.

Gen 14:22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,

Gen 14:23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:

Psa_24:1 A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Abraham won the battle and all the stuff. And then we see that the king of Sodom offers Abraham a bunch of stuff. This is the same type of temptation that satan used on eve and on jesus.

He appealed to mans covetousness, greed and lust for things. Abraham refused to be covetous while realizing that he would be blessed by God without doing it the worlds way.

There is a direct connection between giving tithes offering giving and dominion.

When you bring your tithe before the lord you are not just giving a tax deductible gift, you are not just supporting the ministry , you are not just paying the light bill.

Let us understand that although we must operate within a godless money system. Where the dominating values are covetous money hoarding and stuff getting, a system where people are judged by how big there house and 401 k is, we do not and cannot fall prey to such a godless system.

Deu_8:18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Our God knows how to bless his people. His storehouse is full.

We cannot buy into the money system of Sodom.

Luk 16:11 If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

We give because he is the possessor of heaven and earth. It is not about the law. It is about an eternal idea that God is 1st.

Rom 11:16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
