This sermon encourages believers to conquer their spiritual missions with faith and determination, relying on God's strength and promises, and to actively evangelize.

Introduction

Good morning, dearly beloved! I trust that the Lord has kept you well and that His grace continues to be your strength. I am excited about the word that God has for us today. It's a word that's going to challenge us, inspire us, and propel us forward into the great call that God has for each of us. It's a word that's going to remind us of the mountains we are meant to climb and the mission we are meant to fulfill.

Our Scripture passage today comes from Joshua 14:10-12. It reads:

"Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said."

Isn't it amazing to hear the faith and determination in Caleb's voice? He was ready to conquer the mountains before him, not because of his own strength, but because he knew that the Lord was with him. In the words of Charles Spurgeon, "By perseverance, the snail reached the ark." Caleb, like the snail, reached his mountain not by might, not by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord. And so it is with us. We are called to persevere, to take on the mountains of mission that God has set before us, knowing that it is not by our strength, but by His Spirit.

We are also called to manifest the mandate of evangelism, to boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ, and to mobilize for missional movement, to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our world.

But how do we do this? How do we climb these mountains and fulfill this mission? We do it by relying not on our own strength, but on the strength of the Lord. We do it by trusting in His promises, by walking in obedience to His commands, and by allowing His Spirit to work in us and through us.

Let's pray.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word today. We thank You for the example of Caleb, who trusted in Your promises and was ready to take on the mountains before him. Lord, help us to have the same faith and determination. Help us to trust in Your promises and to rely on Your strength. As we listen to Your Word today, open our hearts and minds to receive what You have for us. Guide us and lead us in Your ways. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Mighty Mountains of Mission

In the passage we read, Caleb was ready to take on a literal mountain. But for us, the mountains we face are often metaphorical. They're the challenges we encounter as we strive to fulfill the mission God has given us. These mountains can be daunting. They can seem insurmountable. But just as Caleb was ready to take on his mountain, we too must be ready to take on ours.

The first thing we need to understand is that these mountains are not obstacles to our mission. They are our mission. God has called us to climb these mountains, to conquer these challenges, not in spite of our mission, but as part of our mission. Each mountain we face is an opportunity for us to demonstrate the power of God, to show the world that with God, all things are possible.

But how do we climb these mountains? How do we conquer these challenges? We do it by relying not on our own strength, but on the strength of God. We do it by trusting in His promises, by walking in obedience to His commands, and by allowing His Spirit to work in us and through us.

Let's look at Caleb as an example. He was 85 years old when he was ready to take on the mountain. He was not relying on his own strength. He was relying on the strength of God. He trusted in God's promise that he would inherit the land. He walked in obedience to God's command to take possession of the land. And he allowed God's Spirit to work in him and through him to conquer the Anakites.

This is the same approach we must take as we face our own mountains. We must rely on God's strength, trust in His promises, walk in obedience to His commands, and allow His Spirit to work in us and through us.

As we climb these mountains, we must also remember to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. He is our guide, our strength, our hope. He is the one who makes it possible for us to climb these mountains. He is the one who gives us the victory.

And as we climb these mountains, we must also remember to encourage one another, to lift each other up, to help each other along the way. We are not meant to climb these mountains alone. We are meant to climb them together, as the body of Christ, each one doing his or her part to help the whole body reach the summit.

Remember, these mountains are not obstacles to our mission. They are our mission. Each one is an opportunity for us to demonstrate the power of God, to show the world that with God, all things are possible. So let's be ready to take on these mountains, to conquer these challenges, not in spite of our mission, but as part of our mission. And let's do it together, as the body of Christ, each one doing his or her part to help the whole body reach the summit.

And as we do, let's keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. He is our guide, our strength, our hope. He is the one who makes it possible for us to climb these mountains. He is the one who gives us the victory. So let's keep our eyes fixed on Him as we climb these mountains, as we fulfill the mission God has given us.

And let's remember to encourage one another, to lift each other up, to help each other along the way. We are not meant to climb these mountains alone. We are meant to climb them together, as the body of Christ, each one doing his or her part to help the whole body reach the summit. So let's encourage one another, let's lift each other up, let's help each other along the way. Because together, with God, we can conquer any mountain.
