Gifted Imposters

Summary: Do you want a spirited and gifted man to fill a position or a Spirit filled man gifted for the position? Look for Davids not Sauls being sure you have not called a sower of tares or a false prophet into your ministry.
1 Timothy 3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Just because someone can do something it doesn't mean they should do it or it is legal for them to do. Many imposters have impersonated doctors, even surgeons, police and other professionals without degrees or licenses. Many did well for a long period of time before they were caught.
If you found out that the genius surgeon who did your bypass was a fraud, would you want him to take out your gall bladder or look for another doctor as well as a second opinion on you bypass?
In the church, we must also be careful of just giving a position or office to a person just because they have the desire and even some acumen to do it for they may not be called to that position. They will only succeed in a fleshly manner and actually hurt themselves and others because they are not certified by God to do it even if they are heavily degreed by men.
So many churches are desperate for workers that they often fill a position with a spirited man rather than seek a spirit filled man that is in position to serve. They wonder why the person burns out or in some other way fails to the hurt of themselves and the ministry. Momma may call and Daddy may send but it doesn't mean he is one of God's men. Sally may dally with the notion to serve, but if God said no then Sally may rally to the cause but collapse in the valley instead of ending up on the mountaintop.
Be careful of who you lay hands on and how you interpret God's requirements for a position be it for leadership or a non-leading role. Don't set the person and your ministry up for failure. Seek wisdom and discernment.
