GET STARTED - DESTROYING THE SIN OF PROCRASTINATION

ECC. 3:1-9; PROV. 19:18

To Procrastinate - to put off, delay, postpone, adjourn, dally, drag your feet, defer, hang fire, dwadle - NB: There is no positive definition of this word.

By Rev. Knowledge to Procrastinate means: to Hesitate - Jam. 1:5-8 (Amp).

Appropriate timing is "everything" so do not miss your time - Lk. 19:41-44.

Times and Seasons ¡V (Moments and Periods)

Seasons (opportunities) are "determined" by God - Gen. 1:14ff; Ecc: 9:11.

Times are "determined" by man.

Taking advantage of a season is creating your own time - this is equivalent to seizing the moment.

Key thoughts on Timing;

Procrastination is a thief of time. A stitch in time saves nine.

Tomorrow; will always be today for it to be effective.

What you keep putting off will eventually put you off.

Don’t allow opportunities to pass you by.

God’s best gifts to us are not necessarily things but opportunities - Ecc. 9:11.

If you refuse to live you cannot refuse to die - Prov. 21:16.

Until you get up you will still be down.

Delayed duty is the devil¡¦s delight - Ecc. 8:11.

Opportunities (seasons) need to be seized because they don’t last long but they take long to return.

Procrastination is the grave where opportunities are buried.

An idea that is not used appropriately/immediately will be lost eventually.

HINDRANCES TO GETTING STARTED;

1. Fear of failure - failure is an opportunity to start again more intelligently.

2. Hopelessness / Quitting - "Winners never quit and quitters never win".

"To him that is joined to the living there is hope" - Ecc. 9:4.

3. Bad experiences of self or others - Ps. 73; 77.

4. Lack of urgency - There is a Differentiate between urgency and haste.

5. Insensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit - Spiritual apathy and dullness.

6. Lack of wisdom - Inability to use knowledge aright.

7. Irresponsibility - Mainly due to ignorance and a lack of commitment.

8. Distractions and Entanglements - 1 Jn. 2:15; 2 Tim. 2:3ff; Mk. 4:19ff.

Take action

Just do it.

Boldness to act is the active cure for procrastination.

"There is only one sign on the door of opportunity - OPEN".
