Series: Jesus’ Half Brother- James [#8]

GET ALONG

James 4:1-12

Introduction:

We live in a time where the enemy is working overtime to cause Christians to not get along with one another. James was dealing with the same issue- Getting along. Here are a few questions that we should ask ourselves.

1. Why can’t we just get along?

James 4:1-6

Why do Christian people fight with one another?

* They want their way. They are being spoiled brats.

* They want something that God will not give them.

* They forget Who they belong to.

2. How can we get along?

James 4:7-10

In order for us to get along we must let God work His will in our lives. How do we do that?

* Resist the Devil- Tell him no; and draw near to God- Tell Him yes.

* Get serious about who you are going to serve. As Joshua said, “Choose this day who you are going to serve”.

* Humble yourself before God, pray, seek God, and turn from your sinfulness.

2 Chronicles 7:14

3. When are we going to get along?

James 4:11-12

I would like for the answer to be, “We are going to start right now”; but you can’t just snap your fingers, and everything is o.k. You must decide for yourself if you are willing to do your part.

Here is your part:

* Don’t worry about what others are doing. Focus on you. The only person that you can change is yourself.

* Remember who and what you hurt when you don’t mind your own business. It’s God’s Word and God that takes a

beating when we treat each other harshly.

* Remember who is in charge. This is God’s Church, we are part of God’s family, and we belong to God.
