Gehazi

It is said that Gehazi is a name associated with vision or sight. If that is the case, how could he be so blind. For, him to have been around Elisha , it means he knew about Elijah and had seen or heard of the translation of Elijah into heaven. He could have asked for a double portion or used whatever mathematical standards he wanted to get exponentially of Elijah’s power, had he only

i) mastered his greed

ii) set his sights on higher things, on things above

But he fell as hard and as loud as you can imagine.

Some scholars are of the opinion that the four lepers who announced the end of the siege are the sons of Gehazi, giving us their chilling input on a fulfillment of Prophet Elisha’s curse on Gehazi. Gehazi is no longer with us and it seems the anointing of Elijah ended with Elisha. But, beloved, we are here, today, just like in those days, we have spiritual fathers and unregenerate spiritual sons like Gehazi fully infected to the hilt with spiritual leprosy.

Nowadays, we have all sorts of machines and gadgets that diagnose diseases and illnesses. Even before one is born, some parents, with the hope of perfect children have done all sorts of tests to ensure perfect health for their offspring. This confirms the hereditary nature of some conditions. If this is true and manifest in the physical, then this is definitely true in the spiritual.

I will share one spiritual diagnostic tool that you can use to see if you have the possibility of contracting spiritual leprosy. 1 Timothy 6:6-12 is our laser scanner. This scripture says that “For the love of money, is the root of all evil, for which some have strayed, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Beloved, do you love money? You are on the way to spiritual leprosy if you don’t take measures to deal with this now. The sad thing is that this spiritual leprosy is hereditary and will be passed on to your spiritual sons and daughters, that is, your church. It is highly contagious and the cure is not easily accepted and in some cases intolerable. So, nip it in the bud, now!

The medication for this, the recommended treatment is Mathew 6:24-34. Know that The LORD will take care of you. From before you were born, HE took care of your spirit, placed you and knit you in your mother’s womb, brought you out and this far HE has brought you. You don’t pay HIM for anything, in fact you have been as unfaithful and as bratty as a spoilt two year old, but HE has not abandoned you. So, how about you start believing HIM and thanking Him for HIS care? Know that HE has been caring for and will take care of you. In this way you will not contact Gehazi’s illness.

Gehazi loved money and the things it could buy and it resulted in tragedy for himself, his generations and the work of the MOST HIGH to this day. Nowadays, aren’t people selling the mercies of GOD. Freely they were given but freely they have not given and are not giving. The leprosy of Gehazi lives in this generation. The cure is to trust and have faith in The LORD. HE will take care of you. Has HE not said, “Trust in The LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge HIM and HE will direct your paths?

Perhaps you are already heavily afflicted by Gehazi’s leprosy? What to do?

i.) Repent. Stop charging the flock for miracles that The LORD has done. Stop it and do not do it again.

ii.) Ask The LORD for mercy, ask HIM to forgive you, for polluting and misleading HIS flock

iii.) Do the Zaccheaus, give it back four fold. But this is hard, but it has to be done where possible.

iv.) Be grateful, count your blessings. The incidence of our SAVIOUR and the ten lepers shows us that most lepers are ungrateful people. Count your blessings. Thank the LORD. Is it not written, in everything give thanks. So, Beloved modern- day Gehazi , write a list of your blessings and start giving thanks.

v.) From now on live by faith. Is it not written the just shall live by faith? The angel that brought Elijah cakes and water did not die. You live in the grace generation, HE is faithful, and HE will take care of you. Stop eating the flock.

vi.) Be born again into a new life.

vii.) This is about the Blood of JESUS, this is about GOD’S Salvation, this is about GOD’ S Kingdom. What will it benefit you to get the whole world and lose your salvation? What did it benefit Gehazi to have the wealth of Naaman and lose his physical and spiritual health and indeed his legacy stemming from Elijah? Don’t be a fool. Seek first the Kingdom of GOD and all these things will be added unto you.
