Summary: A message I have used for funerals
2 Timothy 4:6-8
DEPARTURE IS A CERTAINTY
I have fought a good fight—Many times life seems like a fight more than it does anything else. We get knocked down and God helps us up.
We have health problems and financial problems and then we come to a day such as this and once again have to rely upon Jesus to comfort us.
I have finished the race—....has run their course. ..... had lived .... life to the fullest.
I have keep the faith—Family you know that .... had done this!
1 Cor. 9:24—25—Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.
James 1:12—Blessed is the man who perseveres under trail, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Yes, there is sadness, sorrow, and pain but also a glimmer of hope and joy!
Because .... is now; Where death can’t touch (Him or Her), where pain can’t affect (Him or Her), where sorrow will be wiped away like a parent wiping away a child’s tears!
Find comfort in this that if Christ is your Savior, one day you will be reunited with (Him or Her) again, never to separated again!
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God has laid; you see
I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Task, left undone must stay that way, I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee, God wanted me now; He set me free.
