Obituary
Donald was a Man of Exceptional Artistic Ability
• He was an Artist by Trade and Talent
o In First Grade he entered an art competition with kids in other grades and won
o His teacher told his mother to be sure he continued with his art.
o He won a $1 bill which he used to buy a fountain pen and ink.
o He kept both the picture he drew and the pen all these years.
• God Creates Us All with Differing Gifts and Abilities
o When we think of “spiritual” people we may think of great bible students.
o However, in the bible there were craftsmen who made the curtains for the Tabernacle and Temple as well as the furniture and implements. These people had an artistic nature and a spiritual purpose.
o One lesson is that we are in need of each other. No one can do everything.
Donald was a Loyal Spouse to Juanita
• He and Juanita met Doing Volunteer Work, Although they Worked at the Same Company.
• They were opposites in some regards – He was more quiet and introverted, she more talkative and extraverted.
o He enjoyed Home and Books more than the outdoors
o He loved his robe and hot tea
• He Served Juanita – Exactly How the Bible says a Man Should be Toward His Wife.
Donald Personal Qualities
• Donald had High Standards for His Life.
• He was Honest in His Dealings with People
• He was Always Kind
Let’s make a comparison.
The Text on the service brochure is Revelation 21.4, which reads:
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.
One of the most artistic and creative writers of the bible was David. To him we have attributed many of the Psalms (Israel’s songbook). In Psalm 56.8 David wrote:
You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your book?
• God is fully aware of our troubles, sorrows, and tears as well as their causes.
• David is writing about a custom in which mourners would store their tears in a bottle to remember their loved one.
• God stores our tears now.
• One day, in the new heaven and new earth, God will wipe away our tears and there will never be sorrow again.
